There were a few things though, I have respiratory problems and the stairs were a struggle and I'm not sure there was a disabled access, if there was I didn't see it. Also drinks were served in plastic tumblers and staff were seen piling the empties into buckets and dragged along the ground which for me didn't seem very classy but I don't think it's meant to be a classy place just a good place for a few drinks and some live music.

On at the moment is a classic performance of The Woman in Black and it has to be said that the range of plays performed at The Playhouse is outstanding. A real old-style theatre you can really enter into the atmosphere and enjoy the imaginative experience. If you're a bit short on cash and can't afford tickets at full price or on the last minute, try going down on the day (preferably early!) as they sell any remaining tickets for a fiver. Cheaper than the cinema and a little more cultural!

The theatre has been here for some time and while the fascia and theatre itself are fairly traditional - whitewashed, cornice studded walls and heavy red curtains are the order of the day - the reception and bar areas have both received a bit of a facelift. This combination of the traditional and the modern is indicative of the sort of work that the Playhouse plays host to. Recently I have seen a fantastic production of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales which was excellent and demonstrated the versatility that an apron theatre space still has, given a skilled production team and set of actors. The Woman in Black will be playing here very soon having had an immensely successful run in London and this is demonstrative of the sort of production and acting talent that the Playhouse can attract. Very, very highly recommended.

You see, I wanted to go and have a beer at the Cavern Club, and discovered that I had ended up walking into the Cavern Pub, which is the sister pub, but not quite the same one (though I believe that the original one is no longer there). Still, this place isn't bad, and you don't have to pay to go inside, which is cool. They also have regular bands, though these bands pretty much play Beatles covers. Oh, and you aren't out of place if you happen to be wearing a Beatles t-shirt (as I happened to be doing at the time).

Well, the reason I went inside and ordered a beer was simply because I thought the name was pretty cool, until I realised that it was because there used to be a slaughterhouse in the area. Yeah, it isn't too bad a pub, but it didn't really jump out at me as some of them have. Yeah, it's nice, but there are no doubt much better ones in the area.

It was so convenient that most of the museums were directly across the street from our Hilton hotel. This location is perfect most of the tourist spots were dotted all along the dock area here! It was a rainy day too so we were so lucky to be so close. After London we were so weary of cabs even though the most of the cabs are those vintage large black ones where your luggage can go at your feet. Most of the museums have had a donation box near the entrance/exit areas. This is smart because I definitely gave more on some occasions when we were thrilled with the exhibits. I actually tend to give more at the end of a visit instead of upfront. Some places ask straight away and some have a collection box near the exits. I think people are more generous after enjoying the museum fully. There were many beautiful exhibits inside. Many works associated with a "color" theme throughout the museum. I was very surprised to find pieces by Paul Klee and Pablo Picasso inside. Actually I had never seen this piece by Pablo and I loved it! His work is so different with each decade his style changed and evolved. If you travel to Liverpool I would highly suggest staying at the Hilton, all the museums are just a few blocks ahead to the port. Loved this Tate!

Don McCullin is a photographer that takes photos of war and famine and poverty, my type of photos of things that are real and hard hitting and it certainly didn't disappoint. The photos I saw were powerful and thought provoking and sometimes disturbing and I left in awe. The Tate museum and gallery in Liverpool is fantastic and well worth a visit put this on your itinerary.

It also stopped a wedding party getting in, 2 senior citizens and 2 lads who must have been 40. But they did let in a lady who was so so very drunk she needed help up the steps, was pole dancing on a pillar and generslly falling over. But she did have photo ID so it's clearly fine. Afterasll, Policy is Policy! The decor inside is fine. The outside courtyard area curiously reminds me of a village train station platform.

The aquarium in the world museum is brilliant, it combines fish from Australia to Anglesey with the…read morevery latest technology. They have combined a new learning and activity space within the aquarium; the Living Laboratory. In this part everyone can get up close to fish and other sea life in special low-level tanks. As interesting as aquariums are, they can often be quite boring but with the staff running regular demonstrations for the visitors and a chance to observe and properly get involved so for that reason it has to be one of the better ones that I have visited. There are many displays and activities in the Living Laboratory and they have tried their best to emphasise links between the live specimens and the museum's historic collections. Video conferencing facilities are also available, this allows to link through to behind the scenes activities, events in the Treasure House Theatre and other parts of the museum. Be sure to ring to find out what events they are running so you don't miss out.
