Been coming here. A few years and when we need something to help finish the job. We come here to find the items we need. The staff is very courteous and the store is clean and organized. The prices are pretty good after shopping around town and looking for a great deal. They are open on the weekends which is great when we are doing a side job. Rented a walk behind trencher here after hearing the ridiculous policy from ahern rental about you must have a 3/4ton pickup to rent a walk behind trencher, my 1/2ton pulled it just fine as it should. Superb! BS&E went above and beyond. We needed to rental three weed eaters for our propert's fire hazard line. The BS&E team (Ross, Justine and manager JC) were on top of their game with customer service. They exceeded what was expected by taking the time to explain and teach us what was needed for the job project. Even though it was almost 5 pm and closing time, Ross reopened the secured storage to allow us to see the equipment prior to rental. Justin suggested we pick up a third weed eater since this location only had two week eaters available. It worked out great. Thanks! I use them when I need a small batch of concrete. At $120/Yd (5 bag) and $16.22/hr for the cement buggy, it is quick and extra dirty.. As far as Bakersfield goes, I think they all fit into the scheme of things nicely. read more

Looking at the bill they did charge me $40 instead of $60, but the guy that took the trailer back said it was going to be $60 and the guy at the counter didn't say anything about it. Still $40 to dump some water is outrageous and is a great way to make people never go back. This company needs to be ran on common sense and not some hardline policy that only ends up hurting them in the end. It would have been completely understandable if there were any concrete in the buggy left, but it was just water and even the man at the check in station acknowledged that and still said he would charge me for it. Also, you could dump the water on concrete and it would have evaporated in 10 minutes, so the idea that they would have had to take the trailer anywhere is simply laughable. I recently rented a tractor from BSE Rents Tehachapi. While using the tractor the key broke off in the ignition when I tried to start it. I called BSE Rents and they sent someone out who managed to remove the broken key from the ignition and gave me new key to allow me to continue using the tractor. When I returned the tractor I was infuriated to find that they had charged me $45.00 for the key repair. I bitterly protested the charge since the key was obviously defective(metal fatigue) and did not break due to misuse. The person I was dealing with claimed to be the owner of the company and refused to remove the outrageous charge. He also told me that if I refused to pay the charge he would bar me from ever renting from BSE Rents again. This was an idle threat since because of the way this rental was handled I will never rent anything from BSE Rents again. I have rented equipment fro BSE Rents Tehachapi for 20 years and have have spent $20000 to $25000 over the years. Their equipment is generally in poor condition and subject to failure but I have never had any problem with them in the past with past failures of the equipment. I have never been charged for failures that were not my fault. Apparently BSE Rents has changed their policy and will now try to charge their maintenance costs to their renters. If you rent from them and there is any problem with the equipment you can be assured that they they will blame the problem on you and charge you for the repair. read more

I recently rented a car dolly from the Tehachapi store. I went onto their website early in the morning to place a reservation. Later that same morning I called the store to confirm my reservation. The girl who answered the phone stated that she had no reservation for me, and when I insisted that I did make a reservation, she became rude. She did take a reservation over the phone. Later that same morning, when I went to the store to pick up the car dolly, the guy who helped me at the counter was rude to me as well. I figure that he must have had a conversation with the girl. So I got the dolly. the guy who checked me out didn't seem to know the car dolly. he gave me the wrong straps, didn't know what the features on the car dolly were, and I had to ask how to use it. little or no information was offered. Additionally, they had two dolly's and they gave me the older one that was in very poor condition, (probably needs to be inspected by CHP. That will be my next email). So that's not the worst part... later that morning, I started receiving random, unsolicited spam emails. In the hours to come, I received over 1100 spam emails.... I had been the target of a "SPAM BOMB". I have never experienced anything like this, and it is suspiciously convenient to the incident that occurred earlier that morning. I have contacted the FBI cyber crimes division, and I am seeking to file a criminal complaint against the person or persons involved. I will also be initiating legal action pending the outcome of the investigation. All of that to say... "DO NOT RENT FROM BSE RENTS" read more

So, the response says if I rent something and take it home and it's broken, it UNREASONABLE for BSE to provide ANY consideration for my time and trouble? Lame. This was the first time I had ever rented a large piece of equipment. I was really impressed by the great customer service that JC and Ross provided. If I ever need to rent a large piece of equipment again I will definitely come back and speak to JC. Don't call him an old goat!! He doesn't like that. read more

I rented a submersible pump to empty my pool, came home laid out all hoses and connected the pump which was so beat up it had no more threads to connect the hoses to, could not go back to exchange because they were closed. I planned this on my days off of work so it's very frustrating. I took the pump back this morning and the employee seemed like "big deal" so I asked him if he could compensate somehow, he says "ummm sure how about 10-15% off will that help?" He then says when did you notice it wasn't gonna work? I thought Ok he does care. I said yesterday, so he says oh ok you know you know we open at 6:30 so you could have come in this morning and replaced it then you would've been done with it. Not the best service..... read more

We rented a tile saw first we did not get a blade then the machine pump went out. They brought us a new machine and discounted our rental. Did not charge us for 1/2 of 2nd day. Great guys and stood by there machine. Thank you. read more

Justin was about the most unfriendly person I have ever dealt with. Asked about a piece of equipment to rent. He said "No we don't rent that" and then turned back to something he was watching on his phone. Come to find out later that the other BSE on Columbus rents it and he just didn't want to waste his time calling them. Lazy employee. He would be fired if he had a real job. read more

We rented a generator for the day. When we returned it we were greeted by a worker, handed a receipt, and were told to have a nice day. I asked, "Is that it" and he said yes so I left. A week later when I called to ask when my deposit would be refunded the rude lady in the office told me the contract was still open. After explaining what had happen she claimed there were signs stating you needed to enter the office to close the account. After looking around I saw no visible signs plus none of the employees mentioned that key piece of information. They blame there ignorance and lack of employee training on the customer. They are unprofessional (at least the one on district blvd. is). If you must rent stay far away from this company unless you enjoy your money being kept and having to deal with dimwitted employees. read more

I recently rented some equipment took it home got half way through my job and the machine quits working. Being after hours I was unable to call or return the equipment for advise and or exchange. Monday morning first thing we go back with the disabled machine explaining the situation. Surprised at the response of the location mgr. who offered no apologies or offers for replacement or substitution or even a discount on the rental fee he refuses to close out the rental agreement pending his mechanic inspection of the equipment at which time he would contact me. As if I had done something to disable his machine. After a day and half I had to return asking to close it out and get my deposit back. I asked for a discount as their equipment failed ! After consulting with management I was given a very generous discount of 10.00!!! They were very unconcerned and rude about the situation. I will not rent from them again nor would I recommend this location. read more

I had a great experience at BSE- I was helping a friend do some yard work and we needed a rototiller. We went to BSE, the counter guy took us outside, showed us 3 different size tillers for our job and we ended up getting a red barreto tiller- started easy and did the job.
