If you're going to buy chocolates from one shop in Basel, it needs to be from here.
First, look at the window and you will see a platter of the most beautiful leafy object dipped in chocolate. If you're not familiar with it, it's a golden gooseberry. To be exact, it's liquor-infused golden gooseberry dipped in a superb, no preservative dark chocolate. I swear I thought I died a little eating these decadent nuggets of chocolate fantasy. If Americans think chocolate covered strawberry is the bomb, wait till you taste these. Cost be damned, these taste so orgasmic that after sampling two, we returned and bought a dozen. I kid you not! The sales lady was super nice (when she's not frazzled). We asked about longevity and she replied honestly, no more than 5 days.
We also bought a selection from their truffles and a truffle bar (red wine). All the truffles are completely preservative free. Some of their bar types are truffles which are also preservative free. Other bars do have some preservatives. In case you don't know, the vast majority of chocolates in the market have preservatives; that's how they last longer than 3 months. No preservatives chocolates typically have a shelf life of 6 to 12 weeks only. EVERYTHING was consumed in less than 3 days. SO GOOD!
Be aware it's not cheap. The guy ahead of us in line bought a big box of 750 gram and paid about US$90 for it. That is love! LOL read more
