I had a mixed experience with this tree service…read more The good: The crew who came out did a careful job cutting down a large tree close to a building. They worked safely and avoided any property damage. On the technical side of things, I was satisfied. The bad: The quoting and scheduling process was very disappointing. The estimator visited my property (without me present) and provided a quote after walking the site. A month later, when the scheduled workday came, the technician suddenly said he couldn't honor the quote. He claimed I had poured a new cement driveway since the quote, which was simply not true -- the driveway had been there all along. He explained that using their truck might damage the driveway, so the tree would need to be climbed and removed a different way. That's fine, but the $800 price increase should have been acknowledged as their mistake, not blamed on me. I even offered to meet halfway, but he refused and insisted on the full amount. With no other option, I agreed just to get the tree down. Bottom line: the tree was removed safely, but the lack of accountability and the last-minute upcharge left a very bad impression. But on two occasions now (once in my previous home and recently in my new home), the company informed me they no longer wanted my business. What I have come to realize is that if you are a customer that has questions, about the service and/or the bill you receive (which was my case on both occasions) and they can not substantiate your concerns - you are not the kind of customer they want to do business with! If you just stay quiet and pay your bill - you can be a customer for life! I was accused of being "extremely rude" to the young woman that answers the phone when I questioned the schedule and the additional bill I received for service provided. Despite the fact that they acknowledged the amount of business generated from the beauty of my lawn in my previous neighborhood, they are incapable of having a reasonable conversation to answer the billing question I had. In the long run - they've done me a huge favor as I have a service provider that values their customers asking questions and being involved! I decided to write this review as I have heard from another customer they were treated the same way, and people should not tolerate this when you are paying top dollar for a service! Arbor Care provides a good service, at a premium price, but their customer service is horrible if they feel challenged. Because of this repeated poor attitude I rate them a 2 star.

I used Tri State Tree Service in October 2015 to take down my very large old tree that had blown by…read morea storm to a tilt over my neighbor's fence risking crushing her fence and many garden shrubs. The tree was not easily accessible way off the road so no mechanical lift could be used. The job they did was amazing. Wonderful and safe workmanship. I watched and posted my video of it on YouTube. They managed to take down this monster tree a piece at a time without getting on or damaging the neighbor's property or mine. And the price was only $1,200, that was $1,800 less than the larger local company Sussex Tree, an amazingly good deal! They came within a couple days of my first call, on time, to price the job, then came back a few days later to accomplish the work. They had a crew of three, a big chipper, a big truck, and a small truck and did the work in about two hours. I asked them to leave me some cut up branches as firewood and they did that for me. The crew was courteous and professional. I would not only recommend them highly to friends, but plan to use them now for another big tree to come down.
