After an exam and X-rays, I was told that the office had made a mistake, and that my insurance would not be accepted. The dentist then told me that because that was their error, I would not be charged for the services. Fast forward 6 months, I began getting bills and payment demands for the visit. I was told by the office staff that they would look into the issue, and I was never contacted again. Bills kept arriving, and I am still dealing with them. As a person is sales, it is important for me to not only clearly communicate with my customers, but to also ensure that my promises are kept. I would not recommend not because of the dentist or bedside manner, but because the office staff doesn't seem to be able to communicate, properly review and confirm insurance, and keep its promises.

Fortunately as I scrolled through the practices accepted by Delta Dental, Sloanside Dental yielded positive reviews on Yelp. Making an initial appointment on their website was easy, and it was scheduled right away. I've somehow gotten lucky parking in the tiny lot right outside. Getting examined, teeth cleaned, and x-rayed was super efficient. Every staff member I encountered was wonderful, and Dr. Bennett is a cool dude. Having grown up in a family of dentists, this office made me feel right at home, which for most people is probably weird to say about their dentist. Anyways, online bill pay and electronic record transfer is seamless, too. I can't say enough good things about Sloanside Dental!

Unfortunately, this has been one of the most frustrating healthcare experiences I've had. After my initial visit on January 19th, I was told I needed a crown and that they would send a treatment plan with details. When they failed to do so, I had to follow up in early February. On February 18th, Mary finally emailed me a treatment plan with a cost share that was $800 MORE than what my handbook stated. I immediately responded asking her to double-check this significant discrepancy. She never replied. I followed up again on February 24th and March 2nd - still no response. Mary finally responded on March 5th, explaining they wanted to use their updated CEREC machine for a "stronger" same-day crown instead of the standard D2740 crown covered by my plan. This felt like an upselling tactic rather than necessary treatment. I called on March 9th to discuss getting the standard covered crown, and was told Mary would call me back that day. She didn't. I called again on Thursday and had to escalate to their corporate office. Now I'm waiting again for a returned call. It has been almost 2 full months since being told I needed a crown, with multiple ignored emails and unreturned phone calls. The combination of poor communication, billing discrepancies, and apparent upselling tactics makes this an easy decision - I do not recommend this practice.

First, they took a mold of my teeth, which was very painful. It put a lot of pressure on the teeth when they pulled it out. I was back a couple days later with extreme sensitivity in my two front teeth (veneers). I was given some gel to put on it, and told that it was probably a bit of cement that came loose, exposing a sensitive area on my tooth. It did get better, so I waited for my night guard. When it came in, I went in to pick it up and tried it on. I immediately winced and explained that it was putting a lot of pressure on my front teeth. I was concerned that it was going to break off my veneer. However, Dr. Burchfield insisted that it fit correctly, and that it would not hurt my teeth. He said it was just in my head and I was saying non-truths. He told me to where it for a week, and I would get used to it. Less than a week later, I finally stopped wearing it, as it was hurting my teeth way too bad. After some of the pain subsided, I felt like I could move my front tooth with my tongue. Sure enough, I looked in the mirror and it was wiggling. I called immediately to make an appointment to see him again. He checked the tooth, and said that the veneer was fine and not loose. He did acknowledge though that my tooth was loose, and said that this was normal. NORMAL?! My tooth was not loose before you made me wear this mis-fit night guard that I told you was putting extreme pressure on my front teeth, and now one of them are loose and you think that's just normal? He said that was just my opinion. I demanded a refund for the night guard, that he wanted to try and remake, and said I would be seeing another dentist for a second opinion. The day I got the fitting I also had X-rays, so I'm curious to see the difference from then until now (after wearing the night guard). While he did refund me the $175, that doesn't come close to making it right. I now have a loose tooth! From what I understand, that will be permanent, and the only resolution would be to pull it and get an implant. Otherwise, I'll have a wiggly tooth that is likely more susceptible to infection. I wish I had never gotten a mouth guard, and that I had never trusted Dr. Burchfield. I understand people make mistakes, but he won't acknowledge his and make it right, and I have to suffer for it.
