Bryan Kim's dental practice has been super friendly and helpful. I've never felt judged for any minor issues and they've given good advice for how to maintain good hygiene. I haven't needed anything more than a cleaning yet, but I can't imagine they'd do bad work in that regard, either! Highly recommended if you're in the neighborhood, and I'll probably keep going to Dr. Kim if I ever leave the neighborhood myself. read more

I hate the dentist. I know everyone says that, but I REALLY hate the dentist, so much so that I've avoided coming to one for over 7 years. I woke up this morning with my gums inflamed, excruciating wisdom teeth pain and my cheek swollen. I gave birth 5 months ago and the pain I was in was up there with childbirth. It's Saturday morning and I knew it would be hard to find a dentist open and available to see me. Called this place and I immediately knew I made the right decision by the receptionist alone, she was incredibly kind and patient. She told me there was one opening in half an hour and I flew there. The doctor was funny and caring. He made me laugh when I could barely even open my mouth in the first place. He was welcoming and overall he made me feel like I was in good hands. He prescribed me antibiotics and gave me his recommendations on what the next step to take. Never thought I'd say this, but I can't wait to be back in one week to get my wisdom tooth pulled. I'm positively certain that you won't find anywhere better. The thought of it all already terrifies me, the smell and noises of a dentist office always haunts me in my sleep the day before my appointment. I would rather be anyplace but here. But the comfort and genuine hospitality you feel will momentarily subside that fear for the time being. It starts with the warm greeting and welcoming faces you've grown to getting familiar with, qualities of a father-figure in Dr. Kim, and of course his staff that present the upmost professionalism at all times. Dr. Kim. He is not trying to screw over any patients or over bill anyone. He discusses the costs with you beforehand and discusses what your insurance will cover. It seems there are a lot of dentists in LA who are in the habit of billing for unnecessary and/or optional things. Dr. Kim is not one of those dentists. The biggest, easiest thing to bill and charge for is x-rays. If you don't have insurance, x-rays cost a lot. I've gone to Dr. Kim before without insurance and he's always only gave me services that I really needed. I've recommended a lot of people to Dr. Kim and all of them have said great things. Full disclosure, yes all of his staff are Korean and most patients are Korean. I never felt weird or was made to feel weird I was not Korean though. I've sent non-Asian friends there and they've said the same things. It's a very open and friendly place. See for yourself. Get a cleaning and see how great they are. I'm very lucky to have found Dr. Kim, otherwise I might have went a long time without going to a dentist during a period when I didn't have insurance. read more

I recently went to my second visit at Dr. Kim's office, and I like it a lot. I'm not one for bells and whistles, and I try to keep things simple. This is a nice, clean, solid dental office, without needless frills, and everyone is nice and helpful. Before this, I went to a dentist in Westwood who had a crazy impressive website, hot, young girls working behind the counter and as hygienists, and he told me I had four cavities. I could schedule an appointment for fillings now, but when I pushed back, they said we'd 'keep an eye on them.' I didn't buy it, because I've had good teeth my whole life, and I found a new dentist that took my PPO, which happened to be Dr. Kim, for a second opinion... Did x-rays, he said no cavities, I got a good cleaning. It felt right. If you want an honest opinion from a real, working, dentist, I recommend. read more

Beware of the bait and switch! They will NOT accept Medi-cal/Denti-cal when you arrive. I asked during appointment if they accept new patient with Medi-cal and they took my card during reception, but while you are lying with mouth wide open, they will tell you that they do NOT accept Medi-cal. I ended up paying for my tooth extraction and they quoted $1500 for root canal. Otherwise the staff are freindly, small cozy facility. read more

He runs a clean operation, a wonderful person who also has done charity work abroad, and stands behind his work. I have known Dr. Bryan Kim for 29 years as a patient, starting at age 11 as a recent immigrant. During all these years, Dr. Kim has been one of the most kind men I've ever known. When my mother worked at a local supermarket and we didn't have any insurance in my teen years the office lady helped my mom to make manageable monthly payments so my brother and I can have our teeth worked on. How compassionate is that! He's always been so accommodating. Over the years, I had to get many filings and root canals, and Dr. Kim has always been a delight to visit, always welcoming me with the warmest of smiles, remembering the different chapters of my life. Also, he has spent much time in Mexico and overseas over the decades (stlll does today-particularly Kenya and Tijuana), serving those in dire need of dental assistance pro bono; he'll never mention it but I know because I've known him for many years. In terms of facility, the place is very clean, and very inviting (a good-sized two story house converted into a beautiful dental facility). And the parking is more than plenty. And you never have to wait long. Just make an appointment and go. A wonderful dentist, family man, and a role model. I highly, highly recommend him :) read more

Came here after a horrid experience at West Coast Dental almost three years ago. I was a little hesitant because I'm Korean-American and I think some Korean-Korean doctors (or maybe just the ones my mother made me see as a kid) can be really bossy and think they don't have to answer your questions. But after my experience at West Coast Dental I decided to go the dentist with the best yelp ratings in my neighborhood. Dr. Kim is honest, kind, and trustworthy. I normally take most Yelp restaurant reviews with a big grain of salt and would have thought reviews for doctors and such would be even less dependable but that's not the case. I've found three of the best doctors (Dr. Sourpik Avakian for general, Dr. Somi Kim for eyes, and Dr. Bryan Kim for teeth) I've ever been to on Yelp and I'm really grateful to the other Yelpers who reviewed them. read more

For a couple of days, I feel substantially painful sensitivity on one tooth where the white filling was done although I've been religious about brushing and flossing. It wasn't like the staff here noted this tooth was on watch for further treatments like root canal or crown when they filled this tooth last year. The filling didn't even last one year. Definitely not worth the discount for hygienists substituting for DMDs or DDS's jobs. I'm even starting to think the dental instruments were sterilized up to the standard. Who knows? I really recommend Dr. Kim to everyone! Personally I feel he looks like my dad and treats his patients very kindly... I was ready to use braces soon but my orthodontist suggested me taking out four wisdom teeth first. For each one it would take me $315, so I checked on Yelp at the beginning and then I went to three different dentists to check their service and price in downtown LA. After taking the X-ray, I was told that Dr. Kim could only help to take out my top two wisdom teeth because it's very easy to do but he suggested me doing the bottom ones at other dentists' clinics. He frankly told me he didn't have that kind of tool. He also checked my teeth and told me I need to do some filling job and fix the cavity problems before I started using braces. Dr. Kim gave me a really good deal and helped me fix all the cavity problems in three times. I really had bad teeth so each time one hour. :( I had a small crack on one of my front teeth and when Dr. Kim did the filling, he said if I could fill it, it would look really better. So finally he did it for free!!!! I really love it although I cannot bite apples or corns now. So if some of you want to find a nice and honest dentist, I really suggest Dr. Kim!!! Post college and grad school, I no longer had insurance and needed some dental work done. I just moved back to the LA area, and researched online and found that Dr. Kim had some pretty great reviews. As I approached his old office on New Hampshire and 8th Street, I hesitated as I was afraid of the costs I would incur that day. Luckily, I didn't have much to fear. The staff were very friendly and provided me a breakdown of exactly what dental work I needed and how much it would cost without insurance. Dr. Kim never pushed any extra procedures I didn't need, and explained exactly what he was going to do before proceeding. I remember getting a pretty sweet deal for my teeth cleanings and fillings. Flash forward to the present. I now have insurance and thank God that Dr. Kim's office accepts my insurance. All my family members now all go to Dr. Kim for their dental needs. Even my mom who hates going to the dentist has now actually gone to Dr. Kim's office more times than I've ever seen her go in her entire lifetime. That's how amazing Dr. Kim is. What an amazing dentist. As a person and as a professional, Dr. Kim is someone that you can definitely rely on. He thoroughly explained the procedures and assured me of what type of treatment and outcome I can expect and what I would need to to in the long run. By letting me know the specific budget I would need, in addition to what service I'd be receiving, it shows that (1) Dr. Kim knows what he's doing, and (2) he offers competitive pricing and isn't worried about giving an honest opinion. His Christian background is also apparent when it comes to integrity and "grace" in terms of cost. He is also passionate about his work and travels abroad to provide dental services in third world country--that should explain something about his character. Awesome location. Free indoor basement parking, and never had an issue finding a spot. I live in L.A and it's always a pleasure going anywhere where they have free parking. Friendly atmosphere, and a pleasant visit every time. The only issue I personally have with Dr. Kim's office is that it closes early. For those who work full-time, expect Saturday to be the only option for a visit. read more

I had the unfortunate problem that my temporary crown fell off and down the drain. Of course it had to happen in the time when my Dentist was on vacation. I looked up a few dentist in my area where I work and found Dr. Kim. I called in and they squeezed me in on a Thursday. I needed my problem to be fixed asap since I had to be on a function and I didn't want to run around with only a post. When I got there Nancy the receptionist was very helpful on the phone as well when I called prior to make an appointment. Dr. Kim looked at me and talked me through the procedure. I told him I really don't need permanent crown yet because I still have some dental work to be finished with my dentist and I just needed something meanwhile my dentist was gone. The staff wanted to make xrays and I asked them kindly not to make some since I recently had some done. They really respected my wish and worked from there. I really have to give them plus point, since i used to work in a dentist office and it's kinda tough to pick up from somewhere where some other left off. After evaluating the had me come back that Saturday, which is great since i have a Monday through Friday working week. I came back Saturday and Michelle (that Angel) took care of me, she took time to really make that temp beautiful and matching to my teeth. i assured her that it didn't need to be super perfect since I was aware it was a temp. But she really was a perfectionist and I love her for that. She did great work and made me feel human again. I am considering having my remaining dental work done with Dr. Kim, since my current Dentist is traveling quite a lot (who's btw my uncle) and I am busy myself but with Dr. Kim and his team I feel that I am in good hands. I love Dr.Kim. He's honest about costs and what you can have done versus what you should have done. I seriously hated going to the dentist since I was a kid, but after I went to dr. Kim I'm not sure if all those horrible memories were dreams or if he's just that good. he also does missionary work and helps third world countries with dental issues. He has a nice picture in his office where he's on a mission. Free parking with validation. Easy to make appointments. I usually call the day before I want to come in and always get the time slot I want. Front staff is super nice. Nancy seems to be the one who deals with English speaking patients. She's super and helps you understand insurance mumbo jumbo. The office itself isn't fancy with fancy views, but has a welcoming atmosphere to it. Old school tools and drills used. The procedures are fine the techs are gentle with the cleanings and I had a wisdom tooth pulled out. It was painless. The cons: some dental offices I've been to have a numbing gel for the gums before the lidocaine shots are given, but dr. Kim doesn't use it. He also doesn't use the mouth guards to keep your mouth open so for long procedures your jaw will really start to cramp up. But instead of paying thousands of dollars for those "service" items I would choose this place over them any dAy. Also this place only takes ppo. I have ppo so I'm not sure of cash prices, but I hear they are fairly reasonable for out of pocket costs. read more

So I went to Dr. Kim based off of the good Yelp reviews. I usually use Yelp for restaurants, but choosing a place to get your teeth worked on is a big decision, and I didn't know who else to look to but Yelp! I must say, the reviews are true. Dr. Kim was really awesome. The staff was super helpful, friendly, and efficient. The waiting room had a nice view and decor, and relaxing atmosphere. The whole thing was done in no time, and with no pain or tension. Dr. Kim explained what he was doing as he was doing it, which calmed my nerves. They play calm and relaxing music, and put a towel over your eyes to protect you from the bright exam lights. So nice!! read more

Dr. Kim was very friendly and personable. I hadn't gone in to a dentist for years and I had major build up. They took me in and set up an X-ray which took less than a minute. He went over my teeth and had one of his staff do the cleaning. She was very accurate and did a very thorough job at cleaning my teeth. You are not going to get ANY better than Dr. Kim. First of all, I've been going to him since I was five (I'm 26 now), which speaks volumes, I think. Take it from a girl who has a MAJOR sweet tooth, so obviously I frequent the dentist's office. Anyways, you will not find a nicer, more fair, and hardworking man than Dr. Kim. When you meet him, it is so obvious that not only is he good at what he does, he enjoys doing it. He genuinely cares about his patent's well being. His prices are always fair, and he ALWAYS explains what he is doing, which is helpful. They preapprove everything through your insurance you so you DON'T end up footing a major bill you were unaware of. Overall, his business ethics are top notch. These days, the aforementioned qualities are hard to find in a dentist!! His assistants are amazing too!! They are not only friendly but very diligent and experienced. His office is warm and calming. Definitely nothing like those Bev Hills offices that charge an arm and a leg. All in all, I LOVE DR. KIM and I'm confident you will too. Dr. Kim and staff are great! I got some enamel fillings and cavity fillings as well as a cleaning and everything was SO painless. It was incredible. I told Dr. Kim and his assistants that I was nervous so they took extra care of me. In the end, the total cost for 2 fillings, 3 enamel fillings and cleaning was only $50. I have Aetna PPO, but still really decently priced. My boyfriend got an extraction and cavity filling and only paid $40! Everyone speaks English, although I liked hearing the Korean (kinda felt like my mom was fixin' me up). They only take cash and check, so make sure you come in prepared. Yesterday was Columbus Day, and my first visit to my new dentist, Dr. Kim. My regular dentist was closed for the holiday, and I was having a very rough time finding any dentist who was both open and willing to take my emergency (a very badly infected broken tooth). I was so grateful that Dr. Kim made time for me. The facilities are charming. There is a small parking lot in front of the clinic, which is a converted home that has retained its homey appeal. From the mural in the front to the calming pastel colors inside, the atmosphere is reassuring and comforting. Although the office is busy, the front desk keeps things moving efficiently, so it doesn't feel crowded. The waiting area is child-friendly, but I didn't spend much time there. They got me in extremely quickly. Their equipment is the most modern I have seen, and everything is clean. The nurses are friendly and helpful. I am guessing that the entire staff is bilingual in Korean and English (which will make their practice ideal for both myself, an American, and my Korean boyfriend). They explained everything concisely and gave me excellent, pain-free care followed up by a prescription for the pain killers and antibiotics I was in need of. Although I had planned on just making this my emergency stop, I will be going there for teeth cleaning and other care. I got great, fast care there. read more

I was chewing some beef jerky in the evening when I felt a tooth toward the back of my mouth feel a bit off. Naturally, I googled this phenomenon and became unsettled that I had a hairline crack in the tooth or some sort of abscess that could require a root canal/crown or an implant. Dr. Kim's office had been referred to me by a friend, so I called the next morning as soon as they opened. Julie was accommodating on the phone and said that despite their schedule being full, if stopped by in an hour, they could check out my tooth to see how much trouble it was in. After a couple x-rays and some bite, tap and dry ice tests, Dr. Kim assured me that the tooth was looking good, and the large gap between it and the neighboring tooth was allowing food to get stuck in there each time that I ate, which was irritating the gum. He suggested I up my flossing game and purchase a Waterpik, and that would likely solve my issue. Dr. Kim also has great bedside (chairside?) manner. I can't tell you how relieved I am! Had I not made it in today, I would've wondered what sort of horrific tooth ailment that I had all weekend long. Also, the prices are quite reasonable if you do not have insurance. Best dentist ever. He is probably the most honest dentist I've met. He went out of his way to give me the best treatment available at a very reasonable cost. He will also convince you not to get unnecessary treatment. A real man of integrity if I ever saw one. He also volunteers abroad in South America, Africa and other places, and takes Medi-cal, which most dentists do not accept because it doesn't pay as well. If that doesn't speak volumes about his character, I don't know what does. Dr. Kim is obviously in the business primarily to help people, not monetary gains.
