Finding a good concrete business is hard to find. My advise is to do your homework for the right outfit. Make sure you get a certificate of liability insurance AND a performance bond. If they can't provide these keep looking. Do not pay more than 20 percent down to start the job. Use a credit card in case the job goes south you can dispute the charge. Ethical and honest people in the concrete business are rare. You want to avoid getting proposals, estimates or quotes that can be inflated after the work begins. You don't want vague descriptions of the work that is to be done. Get specifics in writing. Get a solid, itemized INVOICE showing all the work to be done, materials, labor, equipment, measurements etc, with the correct date and their signature. Get it in writing that the job price won't go up more than 10-15 percent regarding unforeseen problems. If they know what they are doing, the price should be on target and not be underestimated. Do not hire any outfit that does not have their own experienced crew and their own equipment. If they have neither, it is usually a sign that they have not been in business long and do not have the experience to correctly do the job. Regarding the above outfit find someone else. They fit the category of unprofessional and unethical. They will underestimate the job and after the work begins will jack the price up more than 25 percent. They will hold your project hostage until you pay more or they will cut corners to fit your budget. Be very careful. Liars can't be trusted. read more
