Here's the inside scoop: Bruster's knows how to shake things up in Chester! After some friends and I had dinner, we were hankering for a cool treat. Fortunately for Bruster's, the other ice cream shops in the area closed way early for a hot and muggy Friday night, so Bruster's got our business! Good for them for winning the Game of Cones! They stayed open later which won them the patronage of MANY Chester residents!! The place was packed! All the windows were open! The scoopers were all friendly, eager, efficient teens and young adults. We were greeted by a bubbly girl named Caroline who whipped up our orders in just a couple minutes. While we waited for our creamy sweets, I noticed that we were among the very few patrons who wore masks. The benches close to the walk up ice cream shop were taped off, but the ones on the lawn were spaced out and available for seating. The people around us weren't 6 ft. apart, and mingled with others in close quarters. I was glad to see the scoopers were all attired in PPE and wiped the counters between customers. The menu was extensive! From sundaes, to shakes, to kids specialty desserts, to sherbet - Bruster's has something for everyone, sans soft serve. I was in the mood for a soft serve swirl, but Wally's closed early (they should extend their hours) so I settled for a scoop of butter pecan which satisfied my sweet and salty disposition! My friend got the Cotton Candy Explosion shake... brain freeze! And my other friend, and fellow Yelper, got a peachy treat! Nice find in Chester... We were staying local and needed something to tame our sweet tooth. We could tell from the line that it must be doing something right. Everything is made to order outside and you would have to park your car in their parking lot and walk up to a window to order. There are limited benches and tables to sit at, but no inside seating. My favorite ice cream to get is their banana split. It has chocolate, strawberries, and vanilla ice cream; topped with fresh bananas, strawberries, and a pretzel stick. The portion is big and very fulfilling. If you bring your own bananas on any Thursday for your ice cream, you pay half off for your ice cream! They have many good promotions. If you bring a child that's less than 40 inches tall and there's a measurement outside of Bruster's too, they will be provided with a free baby cone and ice cream! There's a free doggie sundae; senior over 60 and up can save up to twenty-five cents; they take coupons; and if you download their rewards app, you can earn points and save money! I'm hooked! I never knew ice cream could be so good! I have literally been to this place several times a week since I first tried their ice cream 2 months ago. The service is amazing and they have a great seating area that you can sit at and enjoy your treats. Plenty of parking as well and the prices are great. You also get great portions. So far the flavors I have tried are death by chocolate, New York cheesecake, graham central station, banana pudding and sea salt caramel. They didn't disappoint at all! I took my son here on a Sunday afternoon for ice cream since the weather was beautiful. I have been a fan of Brusters since living in Florida. On this very Sunday, I decided to order a cookie sandwich and it was phenomenal! The cookie sandwich can be shared between two people or split in half to enjoy at a later time. The young lady at the counter offered to make a sandwich using whatever ice cream flavor I desired, but instead I chose to have one of the sandwiches that was already prepared. Tollhouse cookie sandwich has nothing on this Bruster's chocolate cookie ice cream sandwich. It's disappointing that this isn't offered at the other locations. The people here are nice overall. Although we frequented the others from time to time, we have mostly been drawn here. In part on selection and in part for convenience. While the variety is not overwhelming, it is sufficient to meet most taste needs. From sherberts, to Italian Ice, to made on the premise ice cream. Although considerably more than Bryer's and other super market ice creams, the best value here is to purchase a quart or gallon of their product. You can even purchase premise made waffle cones to serve yoursrself at home. Of course, they also sell them ready filled. My wife likes the Double Chocolate Chunk and my son the Oreo. I can go either direction, plus some when the mood hits. Recently, I tried their hot fudge sundae recently and it was one of the best hot fudge toppings I've had in a long time! For the 3 of us, the tab is usually around 13 dollars, when we buy individual servings and a tad more for two quarts. The service overall at this location in Chester is exponentially slower than other locations. They allowed groups of people to gather in the line, collect and begin eating their ice cream near the window in a crows with NO MASKS AT ANY POINT. There is 0 6ft social distance guidelines. They clearly have no regard for the health of their patrons or the orders of local and state officials as well as overburdened healthcare workers. Three different evenings I have tried to go here and three times this Bruster's was a bust. The first evening I go only to see them closed over an hour before their posted close time. On the second night I went here I was told by the young man at the counter that they weren't taking any more orders because of some online orders which didn't make much sense to me. My last time coming here I was told they were out of ice cream, it was 6:30 on a Wednesday and I didn't feel like eating waffle cone and spoons. I went to Bruster's around 4:00 in the afternoon - only one couple with their daughter ahead of me. Three people working there and it took 10 minutes to get to me. Another customer came up 5 minutes AFTER me and someone came out of the back to wait specifically on her - she is a repeat customer and only "allows" this person to wait on her ... WHAT? And on top of that, the clerk apparently didn't wash off the scoop she was using for the banana ice cream as my peach ice cream tasted like banana's.
