Brunk Auctions is a first class auction house. Professional, trustworthy, honest, friendly, knowledgeable. High quality consignments which are actually authentic. Not of questionable authenticity (at least in my experience). Brunk is one of my favorite less known auction houses (which I often favor over many more well known auction houses). Recently, I was captivated be an antique portrait miniature and requested additional close up photos, as well as Condition Report observations. I would like to thank "Kayla" at Brunk who provided everything I wanted in a timely and friendly manner. For all of my subsequent inquiries throughout the auction and shipping processes, I would like to give "Leah" my highest compliments for customer service. She is a gem. Called Greg and asked if they auction copper nickel and silver coins. He said absolutely we do. He asked me too send photos. Then after I spent hour's sorting through pictures. Greg the coin guy at brunks told me he'd auction my silver coins but not my key date indian head or liberty v nickels. Guessing a 20% profit on sale wasn't enough for Greg. I won a lot from Brunk through LiveAuctioneers and contacted Brunk about shipping. Received a curt response that they couldn't be bothered to quote shipping cost until I paid (by which point shipping options would be locked in). Then I questioned additional fees tacked on by LiveAuctioneers and was told I'd receive an updated invoice that never arrived. Over a month after paying for the lot I won and shipping through LiveAuctioneers Brunk is ghosting me, not responding to multiple emails and no one can tell me where my item is. AVOID! read more

REPUTABLE? A JOKE. I've dealt with many auctions and witnessed many unethical practices. Deceptive, dishonest, and lying are words that come to mind. The idea of an auctioneer presenting an honest and complete description of an item, with accurate photos, was what I erroneously thought I had with Brunk. They offer authenticity but deliver FRAUD--deliberately hiding flaws behind artfully limited photos and vaguely worded descriptions that would make a snake oil salesman blush. It doesn't matter if it was intentional; what matters is how they handled it aftarwards. More deception and failures and a VP that asked me to call only so she could tell me how completely and utterly wrong I was-rudeness, a lack of solutions and definately no responsibility on their part for misleading practices. I was referred to them by a friend who previously had two auctions with Brunk - because my friend to me I had so many high value items, more then she had for her two auctions with Brunk. The result? Horrible customer service. Stuck up. Won't return calls. Called the manager, still rejected me. Don't bother with them unless you have a Picasso. read more

Brunk actions is a true gem of Asheville! They are extremely knowledgeable about antiques and can give you an honest idea of what you have and what it would sell for. Not only is the in person auction fun to go to, But they have perfected the online version as well. Just getting to see some of the art that goes through there is like being in a museum! Brunk is not a customer friendly business. I sent information inquiring about art to sell. I never received reply. I even called to ask about it and was told they would call back and never did. If a company can't even call back, they have lost my respect as a reputable business for not having the courtesy to take the time to care for their customers. read more

Brunk is without a doubt the worst I have ever dealt with. I have to agree with the other posts on Yelp focusing on this company's lack of ("horrible", one Yelper wrote) customer service. I am a west coast art dealer who works with many auction houses in the USA and beyond. Have tried to do business with these folks a number of times over the years, especially when I had regional southern art I felt might be of interest to them, but now, I'm going to give up. Most of the time they don't even acknowledge your emails--as another Yelper so accurately stated. This most recent time I showed them some vintage, signed, listed artist western North Carolina landscape paintings that I thought would be a fit for them. Received an automated reply. When I had no human reply, two weeks later, I wrote again. This time I did receive what seemed to be a human reply stating that fine art person would get back to me. They never did. I guess the message is, they weren't interested, the value being too low. That's fine, but I would have liked to have at least had a response. I listed the paintings on ebay. They might indeed respond to you if you have an authenticated Picasso, but, when an auction house doesn't respond on the little stuff, I certainly don't give them the big stuff! How an auction house treats the little stuff says a lot about them; adios, hasta la vista, baby, as we say in Southern California! read more

I have always had great success buying through Andrew. About ten years ago I bought a great New York classical marble top chest with a terrific provenance and this last year I bought what I think may be one of the finest William Mason Brown paintings I've ever seen. Andrew called me himself to tell me the painting was coming up for auction because he knew I'd been looking for one for about five years. I can call Andrew and he calls me back himself and if there is a problem or repair to an item he will always disclose it to me. Brunk Auctions is a First Class, high quality, reputable auction house on a par with Sotheby', Christie's, Neal and others. It's special appeal to us is traditional furniture and furnishings, although they also sell contemporary things. Like other great auction houses, they have experts for various types of lots. Asheville may seem remote, but it is an easy drive from much of North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. They are very liberal with pre-auction previews, and remote bidding (by phone, internet and paper) is very easy, and their catalogs are very well done and enticing. read more

I had my first experiences as a buyer with Brunk in 2020 when I bid successfully with them on two different occasions and in each case I was pleased. The photographs of each lot were of good quality (well lighted and of high resolution) and although the online cataloging of some material was incomplete, they responded promptly to my inquiries so that I was able to bid with confidence. (As with every auction house every where, if you're spending serious funds you need to do your own due-diligence!) I was also very appreciative that unlike so many auctioneers who make you work with an outside shipper they offer in-house services. Since I live several states away I availed myself of that service in both instances and in each case the items (antique ceramics in one sale, antiquarian books in another) arrived very securely wrapped in a timely manner.
