Our visit was extremely enjoyable - we were treated to a thorough history of the shop, the various pieces Mr Tharin has acquired over the years and how the Louvre des Antiques is under threat of being converted to a huge shopping mall - which would be a huge disappointment! On a side note - if you have an opportunity to visit Louvre des Antiques, DO IT! This is a piece of history that should be celebrated and recognized for what it is - it is not a generic shopping mall but a collection of boutiques, offering precious & important antiques from jewelry to furniture that are a once in a lifetime, unique, treasures.... We left the shop with pics - which are encouraged - and a final asking price so we could think about such an investment....and before our holiday was over, we decided the pieces were too fabulous to pass up. Everything was bright, shiny and sparkly. Luca greeted me on the first floor. He took his time showing me their collections. I specifically wanted to check out their bee my love collections - rings and bracelets. He took me upstairs, grabbed me some delicious macarons and a nice chill glass of champagne. Luca was so professional and friendly, taking my ring sizes and making sure I felt comfortable with the sizes. He talked about the history of Chaumet, their relation to the Olympics medal designs, all while trying on jewelry. It was my first Chaumet piece - a standard ring, but the whole experience made me feel like I purchased one of their most expensive tiaras. I will definitely be coming back every time I come to Paris.

Gudule, situated at a busy intersection a few blocks from the St-Michel metro stop, is fantastic. I've popped in here twice during respective visits to Paris and have always been impressed with the selection of earrings, pendants, and other stones. It's hard to narrow down your purchases to a few items because everything in here is so beautiful. You pay by the gram, which can easily add up, but this is quality jewelry and well worth the prices. My two sets of earrings from here have stood up to constant usage over the last few years. Excellent shop! Next time I see you Paris, I'll certainly be making a stop at Gudule again.
