Offering such high-end designers as Mauboussin and Boucheron as well as a fantastic representation from all over France, there is a lovely focus on Art Deco and important pieces from the era What drew us into the shop was a particularly wonderful pair of coral clips as well as a pearl ring - but it was hard not to ask to try on everything Mr Tharin had in stock! Our visit was extremely enjoyable - we were treated to a thorough history of the shop, the various pieces Mr Tharin has acquired over the years and how the Louvre des Antiques is under threat of being converted to a huge shopping mall - which would be a huge disappointment! On a side note - if you have an opportunity to visit Louvre des Antiques, DO IT! This is a piece of history that should be celebrated and recognized for what it is - it is not a generic shopping mall but a collection of boutiques, offering precious & important antiques from jewelry to furniture that are a once in a lifetime, unique, treasures.... We left the shop with pics - which are encouraged - and a final asking price so we could think about such an investment....and before our holiday was over, we decided the pieces were too fabulous to pass up. He was very pleasant and nice throughout our interaction where I never felt rushed nor pressured. He also encouraged me to try on as many pieces as I wanted if they had it in stock. I must say, they do have a wider selection than other VCAs I've been to. But alas, I was on a mission to find a specific pair of earrings although the bracelets and necklaces were all very tempting. At first, I was crestfallen when he said they might not have what I was searching for but when he called it in, apparently the only pair of Sweet Alhambra white gold diamond earrings arrived just that morning and I was able to swoop them up. Joy! Post purchase, he kindly gave us a tour of the adjoining stores where 1 was for perfumes and the other for high end jewelry. Second, the service center downstairs managed by Mathieu is top notch. I brought my reverso duo face in for anti-magnetic issues (turns out walking through airport security checks might mess out the balance wheel in the watch). Service was great and I walked away learning more about my watch. (I particularly enjoy the part where he describes my watch as a "she", rather than "it", which may either be a result of faulty French translating that is done in his head, or the fact that he regards a JLC watch as a living, breathing organism that he cares deeply about. I prefer to think it is the latter). Third, when I bought my watch here in 2012, it was a very pleasant experience. While they could not move on the retail price, the sales associate offered a 16% (rather than the usual 12%) VAT refund and also threw in a second, black ostrich strap (on top of the standard brown croc one that comes with the watch), which I currently use. After visiting the service center, this past time, I looked at some more watches, particularly an ultra-thin with a date function and received similarly friendly and accommodating service from Elena. While I would rather not double up on the same brand for my next watch purchase (for diversity reasons), the overall experience at the JLC flagship in Paris, both for sales and repairs, in addition to some of their very nice models available, will make the decision to look to another brand very difficult indeed.

Family run business with a total of 4 separate stores on the same street; Two side by side under this business name which the owner Chantelle started in 1998 and two that her son and daughter run under their own business names just right down the street (I think named old fashioned). The two stores under this business name are divided by brand names. These original stores have a lot more inventory than the other two stores it seemed. Chantelle, aurora and the other lady (I forgot her name) were all very friendly and welcoming and answered all my questions. I was very satisfied with my purchase. Will definitely stop by again when I am in the area! Only thing that could have been better was the tote I purchased didn't have a big enough dust cover to cover it all the way. I didn't realize this until I opened up the sealed shopping bag. So, I wish I had checked it before leaving as it would have been nice to have a dust bag that covered the entire tote...

She called someone who didn't even bother to come and see the shawl because she supposedly had too many appointments. What a lack of courtesy and manners! A wasted trip. As it happened, I was wearing another Hermès shawl around my neck, the label of which had come undone. Since I wasn't far away, I walked to the Hermès store where I was received with class and where the seamstresses have restored the stitching on my shawl. Ladies at Valois Vintage, you have the products that people like me bring in to keep your business going, but you don't have the class of the high-end brands whose secondhand items you sell. I'll sell my shawl elsewhere.
