Taste: Upon arriving at the first tee, there is a jar full of cookies. I took one along for my journey and indulged on the wait to tee off on number 10 as I stared into the sea. It was truthfully one of the best chocolate chip cookies I ever had. Smell: I could fill my lungs with that crisp, salty, ocean air alongside the crescendo of holes 16, 17, & 18 all day long. Sight: Where do I begin with this one? Cabot Cliffs appeals to this sense as you meander through the forest, dunes, and ocean your entire journey. Never once do you find a filler hole to bridge your journey to another scenic spot on the course. All 18 holes fill your eyes with a landscape of pure beauty. Sound: Only one other time have I seen the metal cups that Cabot utilizes on all their greens. It is it the equivalent of burying a soup can and the ensuing ringing your ball makes when it finds the bottom of the cup is a reward for making a pure stroke. It is comical and further verifies you have completed the task at hand when you hear that ball clamor at the bottom. Touch: The tight, firm fescue grass that lines this entire course makes for a great links turf. As you replace each divot, you realize just how the origins of this game required a grasp of the concept of a ground attack. The ground is so firm the ball will run for miles. It feels as if you're walking on concrete. You're bounding drives will boost your ego as if you need any of that taking in what I guarantee will be one of the most spectacular rounds of golf you'll ever play. The Nova Scotia tourism bureau can send their royalty checks to me. Plan your visit to Cabot Links now before the word on the street gets any further.
