This is my first pregnancy, and of course, I had tons of questions going into my first appointment. The nurses here are abrasive.. I never felt very welcome. From inside the room you can constantly hear them giggling and quite loudly talking negatively about their patients. I would not trust these nurses with my child's birth... Unfortunately, I could have ignored the rude nurses, but Dr. Rajala is in and out in 2 minutes. He wasn't very open and stuck to the script. I switched doctors about halfway through my pregnancy. This is when I thanked God for telling me to follow my instincts. My doctor naturally spends a good amount of time with us. She gave us a welcome packet with information for every trimester, along with a birth plan checklist, classes to take, etc. I almost cried. Seriously, stay away from this place if you can. I really really gave them the benefit of the doubt. I went to many appointments here, and ALWAYS left feeling uninformed and unwelcome. read more

Probably the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor, much less in a doctor's office in general. One star is far too generous. If I had to describe this doctor in 3 words: overbooked, unpleasant and hasteful. My first appointment here was with an incredibly nice lady (I'm assuming a NP) who did my patient intake/first appointment. Everyone I met that day was super nice. I was 32 weeks pregnant and had been going to parkland women's health for my prenatal care, which on a average, you're waiting 3-4 hour just to be seen. They told me I was to go here until I could find a doctor. Although the wait was awful, everyone at Parkland was very pleasant and helpful. My second appointment, I was excited to finally meet the doctor that would be delivering my baby. I live in Far North Dallas, which is a bit of a drive, but prenatal doctors that accept Medicaid are scarce in my area so I was just happy to find SOMEONE, even though I really wasn't wanting a male doctor. As soon as I check in for my appointment, one of the ladies (medical assistant I believe) announced that he had left to deliver a baby and should be back in about 20 min, to which I rolled my eyes because I've never heard of a baby being delivered in 20 min but ok... after about 30 min in the waiting room, I get called back. The lady who called me back, off bat, had an attitude, but I just chalked it up to it being a busy day and she was most likely stressed out because the waiting room was FULL. Then I get put in a room and was told that I will have a Pap smear when he gets back, but that I can wait to undress since it's cold. Which it was freezing in there so I was happy to hear that. When he finally returned, an hour later, I had realized that I had just had a pap done at Parkland less than a month ago. Hard to forget when you're pregnant because they hurt much more as your cervix is more sensitive in general. I informed the MA that I don't need one since I just had one done and she let me know that they will most likely need to do another one but that she would check to see if they sent over my records. She argued for a second and then just said "I'll let you talk to the doctor about it". The walls are very thin and I could hear everything the staff and doctor was saying . She tells the doctor "she's refusing the pap" and I hear him laugh mockingly and then he comes into my room laughing saying in a very condescending way "why are you refusing the Pap smear???" I let him know that I had just had one done and his tone was immediately demanding and aggressive. "You're 35 weeks and we have no tests done. We have to have them done or I can't do this. We don't have time to wait weeks for parkland so send over records so you have to have one done" Debating whether or not to walk out right then and there, I finally just said "fine". Then he changes his tone to a whiny voice as if he were talking to a child and says "you ok?" And I just said "yup" then still speaking in that voice he said "you don't look ok, you look upset" to which I said "well I've been waiting for an hour and half in a freezing cold room and am now being forced to have a very uncomfortable procedure done that I just did not even a month ago. So, yes, I'm a little unhappy" his tone shifted once again to the same condescending tone he entered the room with and he said laughing "well I was delivering babies, it's not like I was out playing golf" To be clear, what upset me and disgusted me the most was his tone about the whole thing. Had he approached the situation differently, I would have been much more accepting and cooperative. The rest of the appointment he continued to speak to me like a child in that same whiny voice. My skin was crawling the entire time and I couldn't wait to leave. As soon as I left I decided that I would never go back. I would rather have a monkey deliver my baby on the side of the road than let him anywhere near me again. I'd much rather the wait at parkland. Their staff is amazing and worth the wait. This man is in the wrong profession. Idk how you can work with pregnant women on the daily and talk to them like that. No decorum or bedside manner whatsoever. I'm in absolute disgust. read more

My gyno moved his practice out of town, I was shopping for a new doctor. I recognized Dr. Rajala's name because 13 years ago he was partnered with my old doctor. I was very excited that he was conveniently located and it was easy to make an appointment. In fact I was able to make a Saturday appointment. It was just a regular annual exam. He worked with me when I was having my daughter and I was a high risk. He knew what to do his staff is great and when it was close to the end because my husband worked outta state and we went with him the scheduling wasn't a issue at all just amazing all the way around his bed side manner is amazing this man is awesome at what he does I have returned for this pregnancy as well again I'm high risk I have had lots of miscarriages and they are watching me closely my husband isn't working out of town anymore and it makes it a lot easier but again there taking all the precautions to watch this pregnancy again you can't ask for a better dr read more

Dr. Rajala has been my doctor for 20 years now, delivered all three of my children ALL NATURAL!!!! He is by far the only doctor I trust with my personal medical issues. If he can not help you he will point you in the right direction. He is Extremely qualified, his medical history is exceeds most. Dr. Rajala goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable His military medical experience has made him compassionate as well as patient with any "issues" you have. His staff, nurses have stayed with him for all the years I have ~ to me that should speak volumes on his behalf as a person and a Doctor. Dr. Rajala delivered my twins in 2016 and I thought he was nothing but professional and encouraging. He suggested a C Section and I had already delivered one child successfully without one and I supported his decision because he is the Dr. A very busy man, he's not there to emotionally support you, he's there to do his job, which he did very well. I had nothing but a great experience delivering at Baylor even with it being a very stressful time for me. I moved to Mckinney and looking for an OB. I read a few good reviews and chose him. I completely disagreed with those reviews. He was very unprofessional. He told me I needed a csection and rushed through everything with vague explanations. I made me deliver at Baylor. Then I got a big bill from anesthesia because they were out of network. read more

I love Dr. Rajala. He answered all my questions when I was pregnant. He was there when I went into the ER for bleeding, I didnt have to wait to long for him to arrive to the hospital. He did perform a c-section but it looks fantastic! Everyone that knows of my c-section is always amazed at the great job he did. I love dr rajala! Best doctor. Very professional. He is a great guy. He delivered all three of my kids. If I was anywhere else I would come back to this doctor! He listened to my concerns and heard me out. He is a very busy man so appointments are rushed and he is always running to help deliver or to get the appointments done. Nurse Amy is also a very nice women and all of the nurses are great! If he saw anything to be concerned about he would look into it further or have a specialist look into it. Very nice doctor, charges entirely too much. WAY WAY WAY TOO MUCH, he expects you to pay in full 12 weeks before you deliver your child. In addition to us meeting our insurance requirements for the entire deductible being met, they still wanted us to pay them $520/month. I DON't thiNK SO! That money doesn't even cover routine visits, blood work, ultrasounds, anesthesia, nothing but a c-section. So unless you are loaded, do not go to him, because after your insurance monthly payments and your doctors visits you're looking at over a GRAND A MONTH,,...no body has that kind of money to dish out with a new baby on the way. read more

I saw Dr. Rajala when I was pregnant with my twins some years ago. I found him to be insensitive and cynical toward pregnant women. I saw him every week for the entire length of my pregnancy and it was not a good experience. I think he is knowledgeable and proficient at his job but his bed side manner sucks. After being up all night long with pain, I told him I had just had the worse night of my life and he said " well we've just given you enough pain medication for an elephant..." Not exactly what a pregnant women wants to here. I wish I would have fired him there on the spot. read more

I had read all the reviews too late, my insurance wouldn't let me switch doctors. I was devastated, and even contemplated just showing up at the hospital with a random doctor on call, but then I began to get to know Dr. Rajala as the months neared the birth of my baby. He was kind and friendly, he acknowledged my fears, and helped put me at ease. As our visits progressed we learned my baby had a heart defect, he spoke matter of factly about the situation, but was also reassuring. In the delivery room I knew there were specific things that needed to be done to monitor my baby, but I really did not want the monitor that clips to her head. One of my nurses was insistent that I would have to do it, Dr. Rajala came in, talked to me about it, and said we would only do it if it was absolutely neccesary, but that we didn't have to at that time, as he would keep an eye on her, and if he felt she needed it, he would let me know, but it would still be at my discretion. The specialists I was seeing, along with Dr. Rajala felt it would be safe in my baby's situation to continue with the vaginal birth as previously planned. Soon the time came and she was born, the delivery went very smoothly, and I was so relieved. I would recommend Dr. Rajala but as with any doctor if you have questions don't be afraid to ask them. I really liked that about him that he took the time to answer my questions, address my fears, and knew who I was each time I was there. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Rajala for 17 years now. He has delivered both of my boys naturally and in a very healthy way. I have recommended him to many other women who have like him very much. I see him every year for annual exams and he always addresses any issues promptly, including setting me up for annual mammograms......I think he is a wonderful doctor and his staff has been around for a very long time. I have gone to Doctor Rajala for 5 years. He has delivered both my daughters vaginally. He never once said I would have to have a C-section. He was in the military, so for me, whenever I have a question about documentaion I need for my military information he is very helpful. He is a great doctor and his staff is so friendly and helpful. Dr. Rajala over schedules his patients, over all if you have an appnt. at 1pm expect to wait in the waiting room for about 45 minutes and once they actually call you into the back they will check your blood preassure and take your weight and then you have to wait another 45 minutes in the room for Dr. Rajala. I went to him when I was first pregnant with my daughter he ended up giving me a c-section, which I still don't think it was necessary if he had only waited till mother nature took its course and allow my water to break. The 2nd time I ended up at his office because he already knew my medical history. I don't think Dr. Rajala really cares for his patients at all. He always gave me the same answer when I had a question. I was not satisfy at all with his practice. He also tends to give out a lot of c-sections. I will NOTrecommend Dr. Rajala unless you want a c-section. Which hurts like hell. With my first pregnacy I had no idea how bad c-sections were. I recommend anyone that is pregnant to please find another doctor- a lot of Dr. Rajalas patients end up getting c-sections, which is not good at all or healthy. read more
