I had a tooth that was bothering me and needed to be seen. My mother was in Hospice Care in VA and I needed to get to her as soon as I could. I called at 8:00 am on Jan 5 and they were able to work me in that afternoon. I ended up having the tooth pulled because it was so infected and I could not wait to see a root canal specialist. The dentist was very rushed and didn't wait until I was fully numb. He kept telling me that I was feeling pressure not pain when it was pain. I didn't make it to VA before my mother died all because nobody checked the emergency line. They apologized but that really isn't sufficient in my opinion. I was to go for my regular cleaning this week and they called and said they needed to reschedule my appointment. I am a teacher and can only go at 4:00. They could not see me at 4:00 until June 25. They also could not work me in over my Spring Break. This was the last straw for me. I found a new dentist.

Finding a good dentist can be quite difficult, especially in rural areas. Throw in a global…read morepandemic, and it becomes almost impossible. With most area dentists declining to take on new patients, I was rapidly losing hope. All my friend and family referrals failed to pan out, so I resorted to contacting each and every dentist within a 50 mile radius that took my insurance. Luckily, I found one relatively close to home. Dr. Brandon Devito and his team made an excellent first impression with their website, which included a popup window encouraging me to call and make an appointment. When I spoke with the receptionist, she informed me that yes, they are accepting new patients and in a bit of fortuitous timing, even had a few recent cancellations and could fit me in within a week. When it was time for my appointment, I showed up early to fill out the required forms. Due to the COVID, safety precautions are in place, and masks are required. The forms are iPad based, and the iPads are covered in plastic. Once you're called back by the hygienist and seated in the chair, then you can remove your mask. The team here is thorough, yet gentle. X-rays were a breeze, as was my cleaning. Unfortunately, I had a problem with one of my old crowns, and so will be back to fix that issue. I let the dentist office know that I was 75 years old and I have osteoarthritis osteopenia and I have to cancel a lot of appointments, but I am always sure to let them know ahead of time and reschedule within a good amount of time that they can get someone else in that can use that appointment. But when I called back 2 to 3 weeks later, they talk to me like they had never talked to me before and said that Dennis Once you make an appointment and you cancel it usually will write you off and never schedule you again and that's just what they done. They could've cared less the pain I was in and the work that I needed done. I had been in a car accident on the Fourth of July. Someone hit my car as I was turning into my apartment complex and my head hit the steering wheel and I lost two front teeth And my own doctor said to give it some time to heal and then go back into the dentist and see what they could do well they let me know that they couldn't do anything that I waited too long to call back for an appointment and they could not take me again. Once the dentist booked you an appointment you either come back within a few days or he doesn't take you at all. I let them know. I was in a terrific amount of pain and I wouldn't have any trouble paying the dentist, but they still want nothing to do with me and would not even give me the name of a dentist that they would refer to so I give them a two for honestly not caring about the condition my mouth was in or how I was feeling .
