We moved in Nov. 1st, we took occupancy on Oct. 23rd. Sometime between Sunday night at 9p and 6a…read moreMonday morning ( 12/20-12/21), our heat went out. Put in a request for maintenance, they came, said the compressor is bad, and to use the emergency heat until it could be fixed - which they said "they couldn't guarantee it would be by Christmas." Here it is, Christmas Eve, no further contact or update has been provided, we are still having to run our emergency heat. Monday (12/21) around 7:30a, I went to one of the storage closets to get a pack of diapers and notice the carpet was wet and mold on the wall around the baseboard and up about 5 inches on the wall. Put in another maintenance request. Someone came and looked, cut some of the wall, and showed me a broken piece of PVC pipe he found in the wall. They said that a plumber would be out 12/22. 12/22 at approx 9:30a, doorbell rings. Guy is here to look at the leak. There is a small crack that you can see through between the hinge and doorframe on our laundry area. I watched this man take a pair of plyers, forcibly unscrew my cold water hose from my washing machine, let water run out, and tighten it back. He then said "your hose wasn't tight I fixed it." I told him I had literally just watch what he did, and he said the same thing "hose was loose" it was not, as the man that was out here the day before looked and said that wasn't the issue. When I asked about the piece of broken PVC pipe the other guy found in the wall, the guy said "he doesn't know what he's talking about." Someone did come and spray the walls and the carpet in the closet area, but it smells like mildew and needs to be cleaned properly. No communication about further cleaning. I talked to the secretary at 10:04am 12/22 and requested the actual property manager call me. She was very rude, and I got rude right back, but here it is again, 12/24 and no call back. We literally have not even left been here for 2 months yet, and I have another 10 months to go. It is going to be long a drawn out. I highly suggest to anyone reading this, that you do not rent from these crooks. That is all they are, and they have made that very apparent.

The AC went out during the hottest day of the summer, and was on a weekend. They called Monday morning to let me know someone was on the way to repair. The AC was fixed within 30 minutes of arrival. There have been three other needs and their response has been same day and professional. I deducted one star for the interior paint job. You can see it was a spot / touch up job as the paint not quite matches. The company agreed to waive my requirement to paint upon move-out. Works for me!

The community is wonderful - I met so many friendly people, especially at the dog park with my pup, and I even still come back every other week for a ladies' Bible study despite living 30 minutes away now. A few things to note: one time someone did break into my car, but that was because I had left it unlocked overnight. They could improve safety by adding more lights around the area. My apartment needed some updating (it still had carpets), but the staff was friendly and responsive whenever I requested service. I didn't use the pool or exercise studio, so I can't comment on those. Despite the minor drawbacks, I would live here again if I were doing something similar. It was very affordable for what I was doing (~$1k rent per month). The sense of community and friendly staff made my time there enjoyable.

On August 2, 2024 I moved into Walden Pond Apartments at 500 Weeping Willow Dr Apt L in Lynchburg,…read moreVA 24501. Over the course of 7 months, I became ill and experienced a psychotic episode, resulting in a "road rage" (aka "mold rage") incident on February 24, right outside the entrance to Walden Pond. I believe this was primarily due to my living at Waldon Pond. I will explain how this occurred. In order to complete the move-in inspection, I ran the rinse cycle of my dishwasher. After it failed to properly drain, I noticed black mold inside the dishwasher as well as black mold coating the drain pipe extending from the dishwasher. I also noticed that the dishwasher was improperly installed, as the drain pipe is supposed to be lifted before allowing the water to drain to prevent back-wash. The drain pipe was left on the ground, allowing the water to collect and remain in the pipe, contributing to the mold problem in this apartment. The following days, the apartment directly beneath my kitchen experienced a water leak inside of their wall and had the maintenance come and cut open the wall to repair it. When my inspection was complete, I reported the mold and dishwasher issue to the Sarah in management, explaining that I believed the water leak in the apartment beneath mine was a result of the dishwasher being run in my apartment. She told me that this was just a coincidence and was not related. When Nick from maintenance came to inspect the items on my move-in report, he told me to remediate the mold problem myself. He did something to make the dishwasher drain and he told me that it was properly installed, that that was how they installed dishwashers according to code back when it was installed. I informed him that I believed the leak in the wall beneath my kitchen was a result of the dishwasher being run and, again, was told it was not related, that it was just a coincidence. I was told to remediate the mold problem myself, as the mold was cleared from the interior of the dishwasher when it was run. During the winter, management required residences to keep their under-sink cabinets open during cold weather and to keep the heat on a minimum of 65 degrees at all times. By keeping the under-sink cabinet doors open at night, the mold was free to circulate throughout the apartment with the hot air blowing it constantly. We were also advised to remain indoors during snow days which also influenced residences to remain inside in the toxic stew being brewed. We had experienced two such snow storm in the weeks leading up to my breakdown. On February 24, 2025, I experienced a psychotic episode. My video went viral; look it up and see what I became as a result. My name is Nancy Campagnino. I have never been a violent person in my life. I was the complete opposite, always the helpful quiet one, never making waves and always following the rules. For something like this to happen, something big must have happened. I am now facing criminal charges due to this episode, which is what prompted me to test for toxic mold. I am also being viewed as mentally ill based on this event even though this was the only time in my life that I ever expressed these types of symptoms. My own mold test came back positive for several types of mold. I called a mold testing company but was told that the landlord would have to test and remediate. I informed Latasha in management about my beliefs but she ignored my statements. I was told that Jordan runs the management of this complex but she refused to test and refused to remediate. To add insult to injury, they have rented the same poisonous apartment to another tenant knowingly. It's like attempted intentional negligent homicide in the making, part two. I need to prove my case in court and they are refusing to provide me with the results of the mold test. Although I do have results that prove my case, I had hoped for something more official. I also cannot allow another person to be put through the same experience I was faced with as a result of living at Waldon Pond. If my apartment is that toxic, I imagine there are other apartments there as unhealthy at this location as well. A friend of mine also smelled a strong scent of gas when the heat was on but the monitor in my apartment did not detect anything. The carpet is also filled with some sort of powder preventing tenants from being able to successfully vacuum the carpet. All that happens is the vacuum becomes full of grey powder and causes an allergic reaction from inhaling it. I could not continue vacuuming the carpet due to this. I cannot, in good conscience, allow this apartment complex to continue to make tenants sick and then deny any responsibility. I am going to share this story with anyone who will listen and hopefully do something about it. I attempted to report this hazard to authorities at Lynchburg Social Services but they referred me to Lynchburg Code and Enforcement. At Code and Enforcement, I was told that toxic mold in
