After consulting with his orthodontist, I learned that completely removing his braces is not an option. Before making such a statement, she should have ensured its accuracy. The orthodontist explained that brackets may be temporarily removed to treat cavities, but the braces cannot be fully removed because his teeth would shift. I found Dr. Rees to be insensitive and lacking compassion in the way she addressed my son. He was so upset by the appointment that he cried when we got home. In my opinion, her approach is not appropriate for working with children. I was so shocked by the interaction that I did not respond at the time. Our family has been patients at Wilmington Kids for many years, but after this experience, we will not be returning.

The ER recommended Dr Tyson and Dr Stephanie and they got us in this morning at 11am. Barely anyone was in there (COVID times) but their waiting room was comfy and we were able to distance appropriately. We waited in rocking chairs (visiting from VA this was a nice southern touch), and didn't have to wait long until we were taken up to the office. They have perfect decor for children and the hygienist Crystal couldn't have been more comforting. She was with us the entire time, explaining everything and patiently answering questions. They were able to X-ray our daughter (with me holding her) and we all decided it was best to remove the tooth. They gave her some meds to chill her out (she just seemed drunk but no other side effects), and they took her back to the procedure room. They strapped her to a "papoose board" so she wouldn't flail around and we left the room. 10 minutes later they brought her back to us, still drugged up, but fine. They had us wait a while before we left to make sure she reacted ok. We couldn't have had a better experience with Dr Tyson, Crystal and the rest of the staff.

His waiting room is very modern and beachy, when you go to the back he has a sky painted on the ceiling with positive music playing, colorful paintings on the wall with big windows that just open up the whole place. I highly recommend taking your child here, because it is so important as a parent to introduce your children to things like dentists and doctors in the best and most positive way possible so that they are not terrified for the rest of their lives. This dentist office will do exactly that for your child. I would give Dr. Skip and Dr. Stephanie 10/5 stars if I could.
