Stopped in for a new battery for my 20 year old watch. Not only did I get a new battery (while I waited) they also cleaned all the scratches on the crystal and removed all the 20 years accumulation of gunk, grease, etc off the back of the watch! I'd give 0 stars if it were an option! Mr. Browne held a piece of jewelry for what was to be a simple repair for 2 months to the day, only to return it in worse shape that it was given to him. During that 2 months, I called weekly, as the piece is sentimental and Browne's greatly lacked communication. Finally, Mr. Browne admitted while attempting the repair, he broke a piece and had to send it to a specialist in Philly. Initially, he used the I-95 disaster as an excuse for the delay. It's amazing the highway was fixed for weeks, but still, the jewelry was not. Others at Browne's said he was having personal issues. The next excuse was that wrong parts were ordered twice. Finally, after getting nowhere, I asked for the jewelry to be returned. He said we were so close. 2 months is way too long to await what we were told would take 1 week. The worst was pick up today when we were told by Mr. Browne that the piece was "cheap!' I assure you it was not! When he was told that was inappropriate and that we believed unprofessional, a younger jeweler used profanity telling us to "get the f**k out!" Mr. Browne stated we were fired as customers; that was actually laughable, as we ended the relationship with Browne's by demanding back the piece he broke more than it had been when initially taken to him, which actually equates to our firing him! He and the younger jeweler were arrogant and vulgar instead of practicing good business sense by being apologetic. I now see why there were never other customers there and why they advertise everywhere seeking business. What a huge disappointment after such a long wait! read more

I would leave 0 stars if possible. We took a pretty pricey sentimental piece to Browne's to be repaired. We were told the repair would take about a week. Contact with Browne's was significantly lacking; I called weekly for a status update. Mr. Browne admitted he broke the piece more when attempting the repair so it had to be taken to a specialist in Philly. Then, he used the I-95 disaster as the reason for the delay; however, I-95 was repaired for weeks and still, no piece. Then, I was told when I called again by staff that Mr. Browne was having personal problems. Then, they were closed for vacation for a week, but never told us that, although they knew we were waiting for the return of the piece. The next excuse was that the jeweler in Philly ordered the wrong replacement part(s), wait for it ... twice! Finally, after 2 months of waiting, we asked that the piece be returned. The worst part of all of this was going to pick it up yesterday. When we inquired of Mr. Browne about the piece being in worse shape than when we gave it to him and the extensive 2 month time period, he shrugged his shoulder and said, "It was cheap!" How unprofessional can one be? I assure you it was not at all cheap and even if it were in his opinion, there are better ways of communicating that to customers who were patient and understanding for 2 month's time versus the 1 week we were initially told. If that were the case, why did he accept the repair in the first place? It gets even worse. When we expressed our dismay at the entire situation, a younger jeweler yelled, "Get the f**k out!" Mr. Browne then added, "you're fired as customers." That was actually laughable because after being understanding customers for 2 months with results that only made the piece worse at the hands of Mr. Browne, when we told him we wanted the piece back, we actually fired him. There are so many things Mr. Browne and Browne's Jewelers could have done differently over the past 2 months, but chose to be unprofessional and completely disrespectful, showing their true colors right up until the end of the relationship. I now know why there were no other customers present each time we were there. My advice - go elsewhere where you're treated the way you deserve! read more
