I had a situation in which everything that could go wrong went wrong and felt happy to find a place available four days before that day. The actual day went great. We respected the space and left before our booked time was over. All my guests rushed to clean and complete our booking to honor our part of contract however the owner REFUSES to this day to honor her OWN contract and refund my deposit of 300 dollars. I find this despicable and extremely unprofessional on the owners part. I get that she's trying to grow a business but there's no way to continue expanding when you have business practices that are unsavory as refusing to call back a client or answer any type of questions regarding your policy. " - She was upfront and honest on pricing. - She took our needs for a totally gluten and dairy free menu VERY seriously and it was delicious. - She answered emails and phone calls promptly and allowed multiple visits to the venue to visualize and try out items in the space. - Other vendors raved about her and the culture of the venue as well. We had around 170 guest. We filled up the ballroom but with the space of the house and the beautiful yard and patio people had plenty of places to mingle and visit. 173 Carlyle is a great value and much of that value is because of Gerise! You see, I'd planned to have a simple wedding. I didn't care about all of the frills (at first). I just wanted good food, good drinks and the people we care most about in attendance. And Carlyle House made everything easy. They could customize my linens, we had a great choice of food and they were willing to let me bring in my own cupcakes. Add all that to the super cute old house that has an add-on ballroom and I was sold at first glance. Gerise - the on-site planner - was awesome. I never felt like she wanted to kill me after I would send her one of hundreds of emails with questions as I worked my way into becoming a minor bridezilla. She choreographed the rehearsal perfectly and was even better on our wedding day. She made me not regret hiring a wedding planner because she seriously did it all for us. In the end, I did turn into the bride I never dreamed I would be - personalized aisle runner, flowers I never wanted, a candy buffet and cute little signs I thought I could DIY and ended up hiring out. And even though my then-fiancé made the mistake of actually calling me BrideZilla a few times (he obviously has never seen the show with the REAL bridezillas), our wedding was absolutely PERFECT. Even my always-disapproving-of-everything mother-in-law loved it. And that's more than any praise I can give anything in this world. The food was great - better than we expected. The drinks were great. The night was great. And we are now Mr. & Mrs. Kim. That is sooo great!

Title: Unacceptable noise disruption and lack of management supportRating: (or 1 star, based on…read moreyour preference)"I recently attended an outdoor evening wedding at The Atrium as a guest, and I was incredibly disappointed by how management handled a severe noise issue. Starting that afternoon lasting through the 6:15 PM ceremony, extremely loud bass music was blasting from a Latino bar down the street (Lucky 77 Bar ( hours Thursday - Sunday until 12:30am). The heavy bass completely drowned out the ceremony. I spoke to DJ and he said that the Bass music has been playing early that afternoon. He seemed very disgusted by it, but did not take care of the issue. The 80+ guests present could barely hear the brides own wedding music, let alone the bride and groom exchanging their vows. For a venue that costs upwards of $10,000 to $20,000, it is unacceptable that the on-site coordinators failed to intervene, call the police, or ask the business to lower the volume. The garden layout is lovely, but the location is not acoustically isolated from neighboring commercial nightlife. If you are planning an outdoor wedding here, be aware that management may not protect your ceremony atmosphere from heavy street noise."

This trip was actually our first time visiting without him so we were a little lost about what to do next. LOL. We had gone to a cafe earlier in the day but it was still too early for dinner so we kept searching for something interesting to do. That's when my husband found Distillery of Modern Art. I wasn't really in the mood for drinking during the day so I wasn't sure at first but I'm so glad we went! We had never heard of a combination of a distillery and an art gallery before which immediately caught our attention. It looked like the space is used for a variety of events as well. Since we visited during Mother's Day weekend, there was a flower arrangement workshop happening in one of the rooms when we arrived. The bar area was very spacious with plenty of seating and since it was our first visit, we decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to explain the different liquors they produce. My husband sampled their rye whiskey, gin, and Amaro Peach. I'm usually not much of a gin fan but theirs was exceptionally smooth and I actually enjoyed it. Amaro tends to be quite bitter but their Amaro Peach had a really nice balance of bitterness and sweetness. I ordered the Ocean Eyes cocktail which features their Amaro Peach and it was excellent. The bartender also made his own special version of a classic cocktail for my husband (I forgot the name!) and he really enjoyed it. What stood out most was how friendly and passionate the bartender was. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does and honestly, he made the experience even more enjoyable for us. We had such a great visit that my husband ended up bringing home bottles of their gin and Amaro Peach. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Atlanta!
