I will say the RDA, Jennifer was very sweet, and the dentist, Dr. Cole was nice. Dylan the office…read moremanager was also very friendly. I'm also going to preface and say, yes I did need to be more thorough in my brushing and flossing. I will also say I've used the same type of tooth brush since I was in middle school (so 10 years), and I brush twice a day. My pediatric dentist never ever said this as when I was a patient, so I was surprised Aspen dental brought this up. The Dental hygienist Monica, first of all asks me what type of tooth brush I use. I say "medium bristles" and she says "Oh no sweetie, you need to use an electric toothbrush." In a condescending manner. I then ask if there's an alternative and she says a brush with softer bristles, which I think implied to her that I wasn't going to transition to an electric toothbrush. She then looks at my teeth and of course my gums bleed. She then says "I can't clean this today, your gums are messed up." Again, I've been brushing my teeth the same way for ten years, but okay. The dentist comes, tells me I have the early stages gingivitis. Okay, cool. I go to Dylan to get my billing statement. Monica has added an electric tooth brush on my bill! I literally asked her if there was an alternative to an electric! I tell Dylan I don't want the electric tooth brush, so he takes it off, and he made a little joke about it, so that made me feel slightly better. At this point though, I was really nervous, so I didn't take any other charges off because I wasn't sure what I needed and what I didn't. I then scheduled another appointment for my dental cleaning. The thing with this place is you have to schedule two separate appointments for a check up and a cleaning. My original total for all this (and I do have insurance) was $150! I call the next day and tell Dylan I don't want the gingivitis treatment plan, I want a normal cleaning. He says the office can't do that because of policy (risk management i'm guessing). I ended up getting the price down to $80 for a specific gingivitis cleaning. I'm frustrated with the dental hygienist and how weird she was about the electric tooth brush thing and my gums. I think she could've been a lot nicer about my toothbrush type too. I'm almost certain they are trying to get extra money by saying you have unhealthy gums (when a majority of people's gums bleed when at the dentist) so you have to pay more than what insurance covers. I will not be returning after Monica's weird attitude and these extra charges. Gingivitis is a real thing, but I think I've had the "early stages" of it for a while now. If you're a college kid, looking for a dentist away from your hometown, I wouldn't recommend this place, ESPECIALLY if this is your first time going to the dentist outside of your hometown.

I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office. I went in for one specific tooth, but…read moreinstead of addressing it, they focused on other issues and told me I needed a deep cleaning before they would proceed. The examination itself was unnecessarily and painful. I later went to another dentist who took care of my original issue without requiring any of that, for a fraction of the price. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this office and strongly suggest getting a second opinion before agreeing to their treatment plan.

At 8:30 the day of the appointment the dentist was over an hour late, with no explanation given, and never spent more than five minutes with me as he bounced back and forth to other patients with later appointments. They charged for nitrous on the chipped tooth, which wasn't used, and a second consultation when there was only a single visit. After all of this, the bill was sent to insurance where it was charged in-network and we were notified by insurance that our responsibilities were fulfilled. Fast-forward a year and six days later, I receive a bill in the mail saying that if not paid the balance on my account will go to collections and Robert Lasell's office charged each item as non-network, despite insurance saying otherwise. This week I have placed over a hundred calls to the office, multiple attempts to see them in person during business hours where the door was locked and nobody would answer, and have sent dozens of emails. Through this entire ordeal, their billing manager is unreachable by any of their own staff to discuss these discrepancies or schedule an appointment to meet, and the one lone worker has no understanding of even basic billing. If you've always wanted to see a train-wreck, there is no staff more qualified than Robert Lasell. But as for dentistry, I would rather pay out of pocket anywhere else than to deal with them again.
