. First, my understanding of mediation was that the mediator would help the 2 sides to work…read moretogether to come up with a mutually agreeable solution. That did not happen. Quite the opposite. And any trust I had in the mediator, their skill, their mediation process was completely eliminated. It was a terrifying experience. I can say the experience was not as bad as physical violence. Afterwards I sat in my car in the parking lot reeling. I didn't think I was going to be able to drive home. I made it home okay. Let me tell you what was on me: I did not ask the questions of the mediator I now know I needed to ask. Like, "What is on the agenda?" "What will happen in this session?" What financial documentation do you require? What financial documentation do you use? What do you do if that documentation is missing?? What do you do if someone starts yelling and screaming to get their way? So, do your homework. GRILL your attorney on how they will advocate for you. Talk through various scenarios. Go in thoroughly prepared. GRILL the mediators you are thinking of hiring. GRILL THEM. Make them cough up every detail of what they are going to do. And NEVER, EVER, EVER go into a financial mediation when the opposing party has not completely disclosed their financials. At best it is a waste of your time and money. Even if your attorney, financial advisor, accountant, and every other advisor says it will be fine, they can submit financials later, DON'T DO IT!! If Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell you go to mediation anyway, DO NOT DO IT!!! It just puts you at a terrible disadvantage. The 1 session cost me $2055. It was an extremely painful lesson. So Please don't make the mistakes I made! Do it better. Best wishes to you all.

Positive experience, straight forward, knowledgeable, would recommend for will preparation.read more

I had to go back to court and it was so sad to hear the judge asked why wasn't the decree done…read moreright. Sad that I will end up paying $21,000 for such poor work and outrageous charges. She wouldn't even push the ex to do his work or tell truth instead, Karen said "I don't want to get sued by your ex for malpractice. " Now I will need to sue her for malpractice as she is still going after me for more money. Karen did things like even called police to check on the ex's welfare and charged me. She charged me to do the ex's lawyer work saying "do you want it done right and on time" then she charged me. I had to fight to get the charges removed. She wouldn't remove other disputed charges. I hired her knowing she had a legal asst and then her asst left and I was being charged attorney fee for things like faxing ...course she never told me this. I hired a team knowing it would save me money and then I find out I'm paying full price. I was upset with her and how I was being treated even before I signed the divorce. In fact I wrote a letter to the judge. But the judge never saw it-I had to chose between paying Karen's expert witnesses which she insisted I needed needed or she wouldn't go to court or to sign the decree. What choice did I have ? I had broken arm and just had surgery. I couldn't afford to pay $70,000 for divorce and risk losing my job. Besides everyone was believing everything the ex was saying like his expenses he listed that his car gas to and from work cost $600 a month---he drives 25 miles to work. He made 3 times the money I made yet he suddenly had nothing at divorce....Karen wouldn't follow up on marital wasting. His word was taken as truth as they, Karen and the mediator, didn't want to get sued. Karen told me that she and judge were friends and they sat on several boards together. So much for help esp when she took me to court to collect over $7,000 more. What chance in hell do I have against that "team." Well I want the truth to come out so nobody else gets hurt like I did. When I told Karen I was going to post a review --Karen sent me a link of someone getting sued for posting a review. Wow, what integrity from someone whom I trusted with my future, someone I paid almost my full year salary to protect me and fight for justice. Beware, some lawyers who don't do their jobs correctly can affect your entire future. I've dealt with a couple other attorneys and gave them 5 star review even when things didn't go my way-because they looked out for my interest and not more worried about the ex welfare-and her getting sued. The only thing my ex and I agreed on "your attorney Karen, is a crook" Said the ex and now I'm learning the truth .
