Brown & Brown insurance was insuring my father and myself at the time of his passing. Since he passed away I contacted them to remove him from the insurance policy and presumably reduce the cost of the premium. I provided a copy of the death certificate so that they are well aware of the situation. I've asked the company to either reduce the cost of the premium or credit/refund the account for the overages being charged but Brown & Brown is holding out for documents produced by a lengthy backlogged court system to remove him from the policy and as such profiteering on the death of my father to collect a few more months of income. I have been told there will be no such credit or refund for the time passed since his death. They will simply charge me the full amount for myself and deceased father until the Ontario courts appoints an executor. This process has taken approximately 30 days to get an answer from the company. I highly recommend you do not conduct business with this company in any manner. When you are dealing with insurance they should be there when you need them and communicate quickly and clearly. This company offers none of these traits. read more

After being with these folks for 4 years, had to leave. Absolutely horrible customer service!!!! I tried contacting them for over a month. YOu could not talk with a person, only leave messages and they said they would call you back the next day. After over a half a dozen call and no call backs after a month, I ended up cancelling all my policies, (Over 12K in business), and going with another company. If that is they way they conduct business opn routine things, (like getting a new homeowner's policy after yours is canceled), I'd hate to think what they would do if you had a loss!!!!! read more

After being with the agency for over 20 years I finally had enough. First of all it was always impossible to speak to a real person, even before Covid. Our premiums have gone up ridiculous amounts over the past several years and when I had our coverage reviewed by someone else I found out my replacement coverage was for Wolf / SubZero level appliances and we have Amana / Whirlpool appliance. Also Kemper cancelled our Homeowners insurance last year after 18 years because we have a flat roof, which they knew about for 18 years. Someone actually called me on the day the coverage ended so I was freaking out until we got it resolved. Horrible customer service. Now that I have changed I will be saving over $250 a month on car and homeowners insurance. read more

They helped us when we were a smaller company get worker's comp insurance and helped us determine a plan on how best to grow the coverage with the company. We had a great deal of confidence in them. As such, we transferred our general liability and they were able to get us great coverage at a reasonable price. We then moved to a bigger policy for Worker's Comp, a Commercial Auto Policy and they have gone from responsive to nowhere to be found. Our rep was out of the office and Worker's Comp was cancelled after they "lost" our check in the mail. Brown and Brown did nothing to remedy the situation and we ended up paying 30% more. Our rep then quoted us a commercial policy quote via email from which I used to compare our personal policy only to find out later that the price was $500. more. There is more but without going into finite detail, we have completely lost trust that we are being represented in a professional and integral manner. I have escalated the issue to the general manager and we will see if they remedy the situation. If not, we will be looking for a new broker. read more
