I absolutely love the Aveda Institute in Dallas. I come here regularly for hair color, trims, and…read morehaircuts, and I always have a fantastic experience. I've also visited multiple Aveda Institutes over the years in different cities--New York, Mason (Ohio), and East Lansing (Michigan)--and the consistency is exactly why I keep coming back. You truly can't beat the price for the quality of service you receive. The students are professional, attentive, and clearly well-trained, and the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable. They've been in the industry for years and are always present, offering guidance, stepping in when needed, and making adjustments to ensure the client is happy with the final result. I've always felt listened to and well taken care of. One thing to keep in mind--this comes with any hair school--is timing. If you're booking color or more involved services, plan accordingly. Appointments can take a while, so I recommend clearing your schedule and expecting to be there at least half a day (sometimes longer). It's well worth it if you plan ahead. I would 1000% return and will continue coming back. Between the great experiences, amazing value, and the Aveda products, scents, and services they offer, this place is truly a gem.

The administration is a disaster, they oversell what they actually provide, and there are employees who are degrading. When you have an issue, no one cares or wants to help. You have to go to corporate to get anything done. My daughter graduated weeks ago and she still can't get her information from the school to take her certification and no one will respond. She has a job offer but can't start because she can't get her certification.

The first two visits were for a trim and subsequently to freshen up my short-to-long layers. Backstory: I am relaxed and have been for over 30years. I also care for my own hair (occasionally going to the salon for special events, detailed cuts, etc.) so I know my way around my hair. I don't remember the name of the young lady (senior student) that trimmed my hair on my initial visit (sorry bout that). I asked her to assess the condition of my hair (regarding the chemical damage) in her expert opinion, and she answered honestly: My hair was damaged in areas, but correctable (which I knew). She did a great job. I returned a few weeks later hoping the same young lady would be there to touch up my layers but she was not. No problem, although I prefer the same person perform surgery on my hair no matter how minor. Another senior student (Sandra) was assigned to me. She too did an awesome job. She told me to come back when I was ready for my relaxer and she could apply it. I returned about a week later (with my own products) and she did a wonderful job. She was accommodating, attentive and polite and I was pleased with my final results. COSTS: Relaxer: $32 (includes roller set and dry)- My Cost: $28 ( I did not roller set nor dry) I dried and styled at home. The school has products they use, however you can bring your own products if you choose (NOTE: it doesn't save you any money) Cut: $6 (only SENIOR students are allowed to cut hair.) My advice: ALWAYS ASK FOR A SENIOR STUDENT and bring your favorite products. if you have them BE SURE TO TIP YOUR STYLIST. 8-)
