The Broussard Cataract and Eye Institute reflects the three decades long of medical education, research, and specialization that Dr. Broussard and staff, offer to the patients of our area. After 18 years of experience in refractive surgical procedures, we are blessed with the opportunity to help many whom might have not been candidates for corrective surgery in the past. We at Broussard Cataract and Eye Institute embark upon the challenge of educating the public on the benefits of this technology and embrace the coalescence of patients, friends, and neighbors who elect to grow with us.
History
Established in 1982.
In 1982 Dr. Broussard moved to Monroe bringing the first modern ophthalmic laser (a laser used in treating glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy) with him.
In 1985, Dr. Broussard became the first surgeon in Northeast Louisiana to perform radial Keratotomy, and has performed more successful RK's than any other surgeon in Northeast Louisiana. He began performing ALK surgery as well in 1987. To add to the list, he has also worked extensively with the implementation of the Restor and Rezoom lenses for cataract patients.
In 1988 Dr. Broussard opened Broussard Cataract and Eye Institute surgery center. It was the first complete eye care facility of its kind in Northeast Louisiana. The institute features a Medicare approved surgery center dedicated strictly to eye surgery. In addition to the Monroe office, Dr. Broussard has a satellite office in Ferriday, Louisiana.

Meet the Business Owner: Gerald B.
Dr. Gerald B. Broussard is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. He attended Tulane University School of Medicine where he graduated in 1978. He later completed a year of residency training in Internal Medicine at Oschner Foundation Hospital and Clinic where he began and completed his residency in Ophthalmology. Dr. Broussard is board certified in Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Medical Association.
