One of the nicest supermarkets I have been too. It was really bright and clean and well stocked. I liked they had a fresh sandwich making section I had a Reuben for around $8.99 that was really good. This was in the year of maybe 2007 IN REXBURG, IDAHO. I went to the grocery store. I had a purse with me. I was not planning on getting much. This store was a grocery store that I went to frequently. I have the habit of walking around the store for a while and taking time to decide what I would like to buy. Well, that day I didn't look too great. I know most people care about how they look and dress when they are out in Public. Well, back then, I didn't take much pride in taking care of myself. I am Indian but maybe sometimes look like I could come across as Mexican.. Anyways my skin is dark.. I don't know if this had a factor in what happened at the store. While I was shopping, a police officer came over to me and said, " Mam, someone has reported that you have put things in your purse." I was shocked! But more than that I was So embarrassed. I told him that I had stolen nothing. I could feel all the people looking at me. He then pulled me aside, at the entrance/front doors of the store and went through my purse. He found nothing, and then he said " you can go." After a wave of embarrassment set in. I felt very angry. I hate to play the race card, but I think that if this happened to someone who was caucasian, they would have been treated better. Although that was really the only store in this small town, I refused to shop there ever again. They should have pulled me aside and addressed this situation in Private. I am not sure what my rights are/were about them searching my stuff No apology whatsoever I UNDERSTAND IF THERE IS REASON, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DONE IN A PUBLIC SPACE, AND THAT IS WHERE I THINK I WAS TREATED BADLY AS A CUSTOMER. It is worth the drive to go to Walmart or Albertson's. Their prices are always wrong and much higher.Make sure you check your receipt. Check expiration dates! The big sales on produce usually is because it's going bad fast! When I have asked for help they act like it's not their job and walk away! I've lived in Rexburg now since 2014, and honestly used to love the place! I shop here for all my produce and have gotten meals there all the time! I do love their deals and I appreciate the variety of stock they have so I can make meals and lunches interesting for my family! Now a lot of the produce and meat on shelves isn't good a few days after buying it, and I've bought creme before realizing it was actually one day before being expired! The deli staff just is a mess after losing some really good members because they didn't have the heart to say management was the problem and so they found other jobs, and I'm just saddened that it's gotten as bad as it is today. What's saving the rating though is the TOP NOTCH Pharmacy crew. There is this guy there that can give shots and talks to you the entire time and you hardly feel a pinch! And I HATE shots! I was so impressed. 10/10 will always go there for whatever flu shots or Corona Virus vaccines I need to get. If he leaves that pharmacy and goes elsewhere in town I'm following him. I have never had a better experience with shots, so thank you so much! read more

The first time I went, all three sales I purchased among my basket full of items didn't ring up and an employee had to physically verify each item. The prices are pretty high on some things here, but if you shop based on coupons & ads it isn't horrible. I personally think it's better prices than Albertsons, but even then it comes down to which product. Obviously the location is a big win for them because they're closer to campus. The Broulims Reward thing is the most ridiculous "reward" program ever. 1 point for every dollar spent, but 1500 points is only $10. I don't understand what they think they're giving a deal on, but whatever. read more

Went to Broulims to get some produce and yet again the produce was bad off the shelf's. I'm from Rexburg and this has happened to me to often to not say something. Today I bought an 2 Avocado's both were firm and should have taken sometime to ripen. When I got home I cut one open to find that it was old and brown. I've grown up shopping there, but my most recent visit was terrible. so I bought some ice cream and brought it home to only find out after scooping and tasting that it was freezer burnt. so I took it back asking for a refund since I don't want to be paying for bad ice cream. but I was told that the ice cream looked good and didn't appear to be freezer burnt. but I assured them it was. but was told to go wait in line and he would help me out. so I waited in line for several minutes waiting for the manager to stop talking and help me out. but he did the same thing. looked at the I've cream and said it looked good. but finally said, we can't refund this. big waste of time. read more

This is a great supermarket, maybe my favorite in Rexburg. The sale price you see is the sale price you get, you don't have to have a membership or savings card. They have a nice deli and produce area. I'm almost certain this town has two grocery stores and I prefer this over the other. read more

I am from out of town and needed to stop at a grocery store before heading out early tomorrow morning. Walmart was already closed so I searched for other grocery stores near me and Broulims popped up. The hours advertised said they closed at 12:00am. So I went over about 20 minutes before they were about to close. (I was at a comedy show that got out late and went straight to the store) Turns out, the doors were locked and the hours posted on the outside of the store said they closed at 11:00. Needless to say I was very upset about the misrepresentation of hours. I really needed products from a grocery store. Please do your customers the courtesy of keeping updated hours. I just had the worst experience in my entirely life. I was walking trough the store, I was looking for a printer cable but I couldn't' find it. On my way out an employee told me that someone said that I took something from the store with me. He did it in front of a lot of people in the parking lot, I was extremely embarrassed I let him check my jacket and he just left, he didn't even apologize after I was treated as a criminal. I was a regular costumer at this store but I'm pretty upset at the way they handle everything. I'm still wondering if it was because I am Hispanic or because I was wearing my clothes from work. I don't come to broulims as much as I did when I was a student in Rexburg. The few times that I do come I have great experiences. Selection: They have a HUGE seleciton of pretty much everything. Produce, cheeses, drinks etc. I've never come to Broulim's and not found what I was looking for. My wife is from Venezuela and there are a few things she can ONLY find at Broulims. The prices may be a little higher than the big store but, I'm willing to support local businesses. Staff: I can't say enough good things about the staff here. I went to the deli in search of meat to make philly cheesesteak sandwiches, they were cleaning up when I got there but the guy behind the counter with a smile on his face said he'd get me all taken care of even though they were actually closed. Great customer service. All in all, this is a great local grocery store, management is great and the staff is excellent! read more

I've discovered the secret: shop sales, use coupons, and join Broulim's plus. Some things are expensive (cereal, vitamin water), but some aren't. You just have to know what to buy. I'm glad to support them, but in some cases I just have to go to Albertson's. I can't justify $5 for Cheerios when Albertson's has them on sale for $1.88. In Rexburg, you kind of have to shop around to find good deals. Also, use the self checkout to avoid lines if you have a small purchase. The sushi is THE BEST in Rexburg. They have a legit sushi chef making it fresh and packaging it up right in front of your face. The fish is actually fresh and really good. read more

This is a review for your burger place called the grill over by your bakery. Anyways we ate there and the burger was good had good taste and flavor. The guy helping us was friendly and did an ok job with our food he overcooked the fries to the point where they were crunchy and I told him about it and he smiled and said oh that just happens sometimes. Yeah like it happens when he's not paying attention. I've worked in food service so I know how fries are suppose to be not crunchy they break your teeth. So I didn't eat them neither did my wife. It was a waste of money. The other thing is I'm pissed about your hours to that place 8 pm is too early to close down you need to stay open until atleast 9 for the summer time because people will want to eat a bit later when it's cooler trust me when I say this. Anyways over all I wasn't blown away by the Burger grill place that's why it's only getting 3 stars. I don't know if we will try it again anytime soon. read more

I'm very passionate about how much I dislike Broulim's, so let me start with the good things about it. The staff here are superb. They are friendly and very helpful. Contrast that with Wal-Mart's seemingly miserable staff that knows nothing about the store and Broulim's seems great. Another pro is that for Rexburg, they carry the largest variety food. Lastly, it is a very clean environment. Now for the negatives. Let me start with the biggest con - the price. I'm sorry, but you either have to be clueless to how much things cost or just not care about money. I know that it is the convenient option, but this place is so overpriced you literally save money by driving 30 minutes down to Idaho Falls to shop at either Winco or Wal-Mart (both of which have terribly crappy environments), even with the inflated gas prices. Just to give you a little idea how much you can save, my wife and I meticulously plan our meals for two weeks, which allows us to do our grocery shopping twice per month. We spend about $100-$120 each time, making our grocery bill around $200 per month. We don't have expensive taste, and we eat pretty basic meals. The same basic menu from Broulim's costs at least double, sometimes more. That's right. A $100 trip to Wal-Mart in Idaho Falls costs at least $200 at Broulim's, and that's if you're lucky enough to get all Western Family products. Seriously, as long as your car gets more than 8 MPG fuel economy, it's in your best interest to drive an hour down the road and back. But like I said, some people could care less about money and would rather pay the fee for the convenience. The next bad thing about this place is the produce. As Tim said on his review, the produce is bad. It's not just a suspicion, my friends. It's a fact. Wal-Mart typically has crummy produce (at least where I am from) compared to other places. But Broulim's has the worst produce I have ever had. I can't tell you how many times I have bitten into an orange that was so dry, I literally thought it had be juiced prior to me having bought it. I also can't tell you how many times I have walked in for bananas, only to find a massive pile of bananas so green, it would take at least a week of sitting on my counter to even begin becoming ripe. Did I mention that the produce is EXTREMELY expensive here as well? Winco has the best produce options around the area, even though I hate shopping at Winco. My last complaint isn't so much with the store, but the mentality surrounding it. It's a well-known fact that the owner is a local man with ties to everyone in power in this city. I admire him for his entrepreneurial ability and desire to grow small economies. However, there is a sickly disease in Rexburg called small-town syndrome that prevents growth or competition of any type. If Wal-Mart wanted to expand their Wal-Mart here to a Super Wal-Mart, it would never happen because it would easily put Albertsons out of business and give Broulim's a run for its money. I've heard from Wal-Mart corporate folk that Wal-Mart isn't interested in competing with and putting local, well established businesses under. But sometimes, I really wish they would. There are cities with smaller populations than Rexburg that have supercenters, yet oddly, Rexburg doesn't. As an example, the owner of Taco Time happened to be a member on the city council, and was successful at blocking Taco Bell for a really long time. I wonder how many times similar things have happened in Rexburg without the consent or knowledge of the residents? read more

I never write reviews, but I have issues 4/5 times I shop at the Rexburg store. ALWAYS check your item prices at checkout! Most items that were listed as sale items hardly show up as the price listed. It's a pain to have to ask the lady if its correct and most of the time I have to prove myself by going back through the store to take pictures of the listed price tags. A few weeks ago I bought a bunch of items out of the "on sale" bins and after taking pictures of price tags my total went from $46 to 20 something dollars. Today my chapstick was .20 cents more than posted. It sounds petty on my part, but it adds up when I buy a lot of items.. especially as a college student. read more

I am from the coast and have learned to appreciate good sushi and this grocery store in land locked Idaho has the best Sushi's in all of Utah and Idaho. The sushi is moist and fresh and of all places is inside a grocery store. The owner is from California and had a restaurant there before opening this great place and I love it. Broulim's has chosen to place their children's drinks right across from the alcoholic drinks. I have contacted the Store Director asking him to move one or the other. He said I have a valid point and that they want to be a family friendly store. However, he and his upper management have still not moved the children's drinks away from the alcoholic drinks. Knowing your audience is important to me when selecting a business. In addition, the cakes in their bakery always taste stale. Also, their produce is rarely fresh.
