The 3 whiting were a good size, however, seasoning was slightly heavy, and it didn't have that taste you look for in fresh fried/or deep fried fish. The yams were a bit mushy and slightly stringy, and the Mac and cheese looked better than the taste (mixed with a few minor brown side pan scrapings), the taste left something to be desired. I didn't finish the food that I ordered. After biting into the cornbread that was almost pan burnt on the bottom, I disposed of what was left, and put a quick meal for myself in the kitchen. Each platter came with two sides, my sides were onion rings, Mac and cheese, cole slaw and of course collard Greens. Everything was delicious... wings were perfectly seasoned and cooked. I'm trying to think of a more disappoint meal. We had three different meals, two of which I can say were very disappointing. The ribs were on the tough side with store brought sauce that tasted straight out of the bottle. The collards were out of the can with no seasoning. The fried chicken wings had no seasoning at all with breading in some spots and none in other. The candied yams and the mac and cheese were good. To be honest, I didn't taste the fish because I don't eat catfish and was fairly sure that's what their no-name fish was. I ordered the fried fish platter $13.99. As other people have said, it's enough for two people. I received three pieces of delicious fish, cornbread that was moist and very tasty, candied sweet potatoes that had very good flavor and macaroni and cheese that was delightfully flavored. You come here for the fish Now here are the things I wish they would improve on; quality food does take time, I understand that and I am very patient especially considering this is a small black business. However, there have been instances where I have been told my sandwich will be ready in 15 minutes and in turn that wait became an hour and 15 minutes. Or there have been times where my order through Grubhub or whatever has not been completed well after the time the app said my food would be done. If you order from here be prepared to be patient but the fish is ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. Took over an hour when we were told it would only be 10 minutes over the phone. They claimed they "dont always see the doordash orders". The people who work there are extremely rude and impatient. When I asked the woman who worked there why they didnt just tell me tell it would take this long she replied "Well what do you want me to do?" Rude as hell. Don't waste your money. There are tons of options available from wings, fish, sides, sweet teas, and more. Fair prices, authentic soul food, and kind staff. Thoughts on the Food: I tried the Mac & Cheese and I loved it. The sweet tea was "ehh". The wings were average and fish were sort of soft but the FRIED FISH WAS LEGENDARY ! If you're looking for well seasoned, tasty fried fish-- this is the place to be. And they are def bought from the shoprite up the street. No salt what so ever. When I called to place an order of fish and french fries and a 20 piece fried shrimp and fries. I was told the order had to be 20.00 for delivery. On Thursday, 08JUL21, I ordered by phone ribs with no sauce with buffalo wings and onion rings. When I got there they tell me that they forgot and put sauce on the ribs. I told them I wanted no sauce. They tell me to wait 10 minutes which was 20. I get the meat home and the ribs are not cooked, the shrimp are raw & soggy, and the onion rings are like wet noodles. My husband has been wanting to order from Brothers kitchen for weeks, he works in Glendora and wanted to support the local business so we finally did yesterday when my parents came to visit. My mom and dad eat on the clean side so they ordered grilled items. My husband and I went all in and ordered fried sandwiches and a fried platter. All the fried stuff and sandwiches were amazing but the grilled stuff was terrible. The fish they use are thin fillets and they just grilled em until they were dust. My poor mom and dad were chewing away on their fish jerky while my husband and I enjoyed our meals. Take my advice, DO NOT order anything grilled from this place. The fried foods are delish.
