We called ahead and booked an appointment for a tour as we were looking for full time infant care. From the moment we walked in to the facility, we knew this was not the place for us. Not taking in to consideration the interior aesthetics (because it was pretty bad in the entryway alone), there were 4 women that greeted my husband and I at the door, of which 2 were sitting on the floor on the front office, 1 who gave a tour but really couldn't communicate much in the way of information or what made their facility better than their competition (she appeared to be new), and the quality director herself who seemed to be just visiting and not based out of this location. We were walked through the school-aged area which honestly looked as though it were under construction (it was not) - there were boxes everywhere and the room just looked completely disheveled with no sense of any organization. We made it to the infant room which was a depressing sight. There were 3 infants in the room at the time with 1 caretaker (which is fine as ratio is 4:1). The room was just very dirty feeling, the cribs looked old and janky, and the sheets had definitely seen better days. One infant was laying on the floor in a Boppy and when she was picked up, the back of her head was drenched in sweat - how long was she laying there? The floor mats had either went without cleaning for weeks or they were stained with dirt (which shoes are supposedly not allowed in there so infants can crawl around so not sure how this happened). There was pretty much radio silence from the women that gave us a tour unless we had questions - which I did not since we had already made up our minds just walking in. The most telling part of this tour was when we were brought back in to the school-aged area and given informational paperwork to fill out. We were sat down at a toddler table and my husband whispered to me to turn around and look at the floor - lo and behold, a KinderCare employee asleep on the floor against the wall while another stood above her on a child's desk decorating a bulletin board - all in front of the quality director herself. You would think that having this tour booked in advance, the facility would have at least TRIED to gain our business. I don't mean any offense to the employees that were present that day - but this just was not a good showing and did not provide a very good first impression at all. read more
