Came in this morning for our exam and was introduced to Kylie the vet tech. Kylie was nothing less than awesome and professional with a welcoming attitude. Then I got the privilege of meeting Dr. Sara Curry. I have worked in the animal industry for years and have never had a veterinarian make me feel so at home. I truly felt like my dog's best interest was always in mind and the same for my wallet. If there was a mountain top here in Sioux Falls I'd be running to it to shout from about how great this office is. Keep up the great work guys!

They were not able to get a urine sample (strange since she peed inadvertently twice on their floor). I think Vets can extract from the bladder by needle. So they took an xray which they claimed showed crystals in her bladder. I could not see anything but maybe only a med could tell? They gave me no diagnosis or paper work of any kind except a very hefty bill. They prescribed Hill's prescription diet for Urinary Care, forbid me feeding her _ANYTHING_ else at all and said she would need to be on Hill's the rest of her life. Of course they sell Hill's. She was also given an antibiotic and an nsaid. She needs to be reevaluated in one month. The Hill's _might_ be able to get rid of the crystals; future surgery _might_ be necessary, per the vet. A few days later they sent me an email asking me to sign a form guaranteeing payment of my dog's next visit!! They were paid in full first time and I have excellent credit. I have never encountered this before and it is inexplicable to me. Worst of all my dog does not like Hill's and every meal is a struggle. Before I left I asked for a prescription for Hill's: I like to buy from Chewy. They did not want to give it to me and said their prices are competitive, etc but I insisted. Later I discovered the Vet wrote the script to expire on the same date it as written. Accident? I don't think so. I will be taking my dog back to her own vet for the follow up.

Prices have more than doubled in the last year!!…read more I was quoted one price, once when I made the appointment and again when I was in the waiting room prior to being escorted to the exam room. When I went to check out, it was $15 more than quoted. I was never apprised of any increase during the exam exam. The charge for the exam was $35 and the only thing I could see for the exam part was she listened to his heart. The charge for getting his teeth cleaned was $400.+ . Last year the cost was $169. The office is ghetto and overpriced. No way could I recommend them. I see zero-tolerance signs everywhere. I'm not alone in being disgusted with the new ownership! Dr. Williams you are sorely missed!!

Normally, I would not take the time to do something like this; but because it happened to my animal, I want to do my part to ensure no other animal is treated the way mine was. I took my dog in to get his teeth cleaned on 7/11/22. I've taken him here a few times to get it done with no issues in the past. I was not given any kind of information up front such as if I wanted them to call me if something went wrong (which other veterinarian clinics do so they can make sure they are appropriately treating their animals by their clients wishes) so in my head nothing could possibly go wrong. When I came to pick my dog up, I was told "he did great, we only had to take out 8 of his teeth". Only??? I was immediately confused because they had told me his teeth looked better this year than they had last year. I asked if they had to extract them. They said "no, but they were wiggly when we were cleaning them so we plucked at one and it fell out". This was a huge shock for a pet parent who is under the assumption that they are dropping off and picking up their pet with a new fresh smile and absolutely nothing else. Let me be clear; had they called and asked if me if it was okay and I knew it would be better for my animal, I would have made a judgment call at that time. However; they denied my right as a pet owner to make decisions on behalf of my pet. My frustration for the situation is due to the staff not having the decency to think we should probably call her because this is pretty extreme for a pet to lose 8 teeth in one visit. This situation has truly made me question the ethics of this business. I went back on 7/12/22 to get an answer as to why I was not contacted and their response was "Dr. Williams said we only reach out if you request us to during the cleaning and find issues". So you mean to tell me, if I took a kid to the dentist and didn't request that they call me if an issue came up they have the authority to just pull their teeth as they see fit? No you don't because it's unethical. I have called 6 different vet clinics at this point and their standard protocol they stated is to ask up front when you arrive if you want them to just remove teeth if it comes to that or if they want you to be called first and notified so you can make the decision as their pet owner. As that's how it should be - pet owners have the right to make their own decisions for their animals and that decision was actually stripped from me and made on my behalf without my consent. The worst part of it is when I was being told what happened, it was conveyed that it wasn't a big deal but to me, but that is a big deal. That's an adjustment for my pet and myself. I called to try and talk to the vet after I left the clinic originally on 7/11 about the situation and when I brought up not being notified and how it might be in the pet owners best interest that they should ask upfront going forward so they can honor pet owners choices, Dr. Williams actually stated "yeah it's just unfortunate". To top it off, when I went back on 7/12 to speak with them, Dr. Williams didn't have the decency to come and speak to me, but had to relay the information around my concerns through a vet tech. Where is the bedside manner? Because it's not there. I'm beyond disappointed in this clinic and will never come back again due to the lack of compassion, empathy, communication, lack of trust, or care for the animal's owner and their choices.

Grace had a very distressing reaction to the sedative. She yelped, fought it, and ran, and it lasted several minutes. During this, there was no reassurance from the vet that this was normal, that Grace was okay, or that she was not in pain. I was left panicking and confused in the middle of saying goodbye. Afterward, I had to Google what was happening and why she reacted that way, which no grieving pet owner should have to do. Grace was a very muscular pit bull, and I later learned this reaction is common in muscular bully breeds because sedation can affect them unevenly due to muscle mass and metabolism. This should have been explained to me beforehand. I also called several times the week before and specifically asked that someone come with the vet to help carry Grace to the car afterward. I was assured this would be provided, but no one came. I had to lift her onto the stretcher and carry her to the car myself, which was extremely difficult emotionally. Additionally, I was told that I would receive Grace's nose print. The vet said it would be ready when I picked up her ashes. When I picked up her ashes, I was told the nose print would be mailed to me. I still have not received it. For the cost, I expected better communication, more reassurance during a chaotic moment, and follow-through on what I was told would be provided.

The tech finally came in and acted like a used car salesman trying to upsell a blood work panel, which was unnecessary; when I declined, she just took my cat and walked out the door. I was not allowed to be present for the physical exam. I didn't see the veterinarian until after all the work was done. When the vet finally came in, she did not have any clue what breed my cat was, said they did not do the blood work, said she needed surgery and did not offer her any pain meds or anything. When I went to check out, the front desk gal was so rude and never answered my questions. They just told me about the dates when they had an opening for surgery, which I had to set up that day. I called Tea Clinic to cancel my appointment - Bonnie was the rudest person ever. It was like she was mad that I was going somewhere else, and when I asked her why I was charged for the pre-surgical blood work that never happened, she said she was just at the front desk today and had no idea, then put me on hold. When I asked her to transfer the x-ray and other documents they had for my cat, she rudely said, "If they want them, they have to call us." Which made no sense when they transferred it all over to my current vet. I will not go to a clinic for my animals if they want to lie about a blood work that never happened, don't offer my cat any pain meds when Dr. Ray said she was in pain, etc. All they look at is the $$$ they can take from people, and if the vet, Dr. Andrea Ray, had no clue of my cat's breed, why on God's green earth do you think I would trust you with her? She is my family, not a toy! They are the rudest vet clinic I have ever seen and don't care what you want to be done. They do what they feel and know you must pay for it. The entire staff needs to take a course on loving animals and respecting their owners. I highly recommend Sioux Falls clinics for much cheaper and better care. People have bad days, but when you are at work, don't take it out on a customer who wants what is best for their animals!
