Let me first say, I can't imagine doing this job day in and day out. I commend the staff for taking career positions that open them up to their own emotional trauma. Whether that be from pet parents or pet injuries/illness/death, because without that sacrifice... many of us would have lost our furry friends or lost them sooner, in our case. On 18Mar, our 10yr old had a seizure like episode. I was at the ER within the hour. Sent home to monitor. By 22Mar, she had another episode. Went immediately back in around midnight, left her there for monitoring for 18hrs or so. After this visit, we made a neurologist appointment out near Chicago for 31Mar. Our third appointment occurred at 2am on 29Mar. She was immediately taken back and we got the worst news we could ever get. She wouldn't be making it to the neurology appointment. We had to say goodbye, as her spleen ruptured and it was (almost always is) due to Hermangiosarcoma. I won't go into detail on our final moments there, but I will say I'm super thankful to have this hospital AND STAFF here 24/7/365. I don't know what I would have done without them. All three doctors we worked with had hearts of gold. The front staff, same. When it came time to pick up her ashes, I had a neighbor offer to do it. I called and the staff added my neighbor. So thankful for that. I'm not ready to walk back in there. Which is sad, because I have some blankets/bedding for donation. Unrelated to this hospital, but relative... if you don't have pet insurance, I HIGHLY recommend ASPCA Pet Insurance. It's nice knowing you don't have to think about money in an emergency. Because that emergent is stressful enough. Baby girl, I miss you every day. You were my heart, my soul, my saving grace. You've taken a piece of me with you that will never be filled.

Even though my dog was near death, (Patel told me) he kept the dog alive knowing this. For two hours he had my dog on a respirator, gave him drugs and other things until he called me with an update. I told the doc to let him go. Why did you let him suffer these past two hours? I ended up with a bill around $800. I think it was money motivated. Maybe they're better now. This was shortly after they opened. What a HORRIBLE experience! After this I checked where Patel worked before. They had similar reviews re: money and service which the pet did not need.

We had recently changed our Vet from being out of town, to closer due to all our ages, and wanted to be closer to establish care for our two dogs. After Duke's first Annual Visit, he had his first "Senior Blood Panel" he had high levels of Kidney/Pancreas results. Dr Kramer prescribed digestive dog food, and a supplement of Denamarin for next couple of weeks. Dukie appeared to be fine, with the exception of stool color, texture was loose. x2 weeks later losing weight, and blood test again much higher. Dr. Kramer and her staff, was amazing. Dr. Kramer continued "Process of elimination" of Duke's symptoms and labs. She was always so optimistic! But a momma knows!! right? We together, decided to get an Ultrasound done. Long story short, Duke had Lymphoma, which effected his entire abdomen. The next x2 weeks was Duke's Bucket list as he rapidly declined in health. Dr. Kramer and her Staff taught me how to administer Duke's "Cocktail" (fluids) in case he needed to be hydrated on weekends, let me just come in and check in weight, and given support with my questions. When Duke decided it was his time, I called, and they prepared for his Day. Specialized parking, sign out front, couches, pillows, music, treats and a little more TIME. So beautiful and comforting. Private entrance. A wonderful paw print, and cremation container to bring our Big Boy home. Dr Kramer and her Staff, supported all my decisions, with her professionalism, care & empathy. They sent us a Sympathy card a week later, and also planted a Tree in honor of our Sweet Big boy! It honestly, doesn't get any better than this!! I can't thank them enough, or be more grateful.
