a week ago New Do not…read moretake your animals to this vet. Mine was dead within 3 months because of their negligence. Took my dog here in May with suspected seizures. But also had a weird cough/breathing issue. The tech(could not find picture on their website so I don't know who it was) did not like my dog and kept making snide remarks, I offered to muzzle her and they did not have me do that. She is anxious and just needs a caring and loving staff. The last comment that made me angry was when I overheard her telling the vet that "of course she coughs she barks like a maniac, having that kind of dog back there a 2nd time puts the entire staff at risk" I confronted her saying she coughs all the time, not just when she barks. She was rude, gave me a dirty look and only apologized when my husband got there. My dog came back from chest X-rays and the other tech went on about how sweet and loving my dog was. So I know she was behaving back there. Dr. Damman comes back and says he saw a blip but he thinks she must have moved during the X-ray and so he diagnosed her with a brain tumor, based off symptoms. They didn't want to help my dog. He just shoved seizures meds, discouraged us from seeking a specialist with talks of the THOUSANDS it's gonna cost me and that nothing that can be done for brain tumors. It would only give my dog another year tops. He said Take her home, give her these meds(phenobarbital) to help her, and enjoy the time you have left. The meds were absolutely awful and the longer she took them the worse she got. I called up there 3 times before the vet got back to me and he left a voicemail saying that I should bring her in to "evaluate quality of life". That was it. I called Hononegah animal hospital and Dr. Adas and staff were so great with my dog. My dog loved them. They could tell it was just anxiety and her being very protective over me so they asked me to step out and they just did the exam one on one and she did a phenomenal job. They started weening her off the meds and switching to something else. Which made my dog act completely normal again. A few weeks go by and She started swelling, so we took her back in to Dr. Adas, the issue was that the blip in the Xray was not from movement, it was early heart failure. Had it been caught by Brookside in May it could have been managed and treated with medication. But it had unfortunately progressed too far by this time. The fluid in her heart was leaking into her abdomen . We took her home, scheduled an in home euthanasia and spent 1 last week with our girl. August 17th 2024 was the last time I got to see the best girl. I am still completely heartbroken. My kids are still devastated. My home will never be the same. I should have left a review much earlier to help other families. But I wasn't ready to write it all out. There are a lot more details than this but I only have so many characters to leave a review. And unfortunately I can't leave less then a 1 star review. I hope that if you choose to take your pet to Dr. Damman and his crap tech, that they don't kill your family with their incompetence.

Let me first say, I can't imagine doing this job day in and day out. I commend the staff for taking career positions that open them up to their own emotional trauma. Whether that be from pet parents or pet injuries/illness/death, because without that sacrifice... many of us would have lost our furry friends or lost them sooner, in our case. On 18Mar, our 10yr old had a seizure like episode. I was at the ER within the hour. Sent home to monitor. By 22Mar, she had another episode. Went immediately back in around midnight, left her there for monitoring for 18hrs or so. After this visit, we made a neurologist appointment out near Chicago for 31Mar. Our third appointment occurred at 2am on 29Mar. She was immediately taken back and we got the worst news we could ever get. She wouldn't be making it to the neurology appointment. We had to say goodbye, as her spleen ruptured and it was (almost always is) due to Hermangiosarcoma. I won't go into detail on our final moments there, but I will say I'm super thankful to have this hospital AND STAFF here 24/7/365. I don't know what I would have done without them. All three doctors we worked with had hearts of gold. The front staff, same. When it came time to pick up her ashes, I had a neighbor offer to do it. I called and the staff added my neighbor. So thankful for that. I'm not ready to walk back in there. Which is sad, because I have some blankets/bedding for donation. Unrelated to this hospital, but relative... if you don't have pet insurance, I HIGHLY recommend ASPCA Pet Insurance. It's nice knowing you don't have to think about money in an emergency. Because that emergent is stressful enough. Baby girl, I miss you every day. You were my heart, my soul, my saving grace. You've taken a piece of me with you that will never be filled.

We checked on line for a vet and based on the reviews, we decided to take him to Frost Family Pet Clinic. Dr. Frost saw Murphy, as scheduled, and not long into the examination, he suspected Murphy had Cushings disease. We had never heard of the illness. Dr. Frost took time to explain the symptoms and what would be necessary to confirm his suspicions. He asked his staff to obtain Murphy's records from our previous vet in the hope that they would not have to redo a recent blood test that the other vet and done. He did other blood work, took xrays and ran some tests. He listed options for us to consider regarding Murphy's care. Dr. Frost was very thorough, and encouraged us to take Murphy to a specialist to insure he got the best care possible. However, due to additonal findings Dr. Frost referred us to another vet for a second opinion. The vet that Dr. Frost referred us to concurred with Dr. Frost that Murphy actually had a number of serious issues in addition to the Cushings. Anything more that could be done, would have only extended the misery and suffering for our little friend. There was no doubt that we had to let him go. Murphy was with us for fourteen years, and very loved by my husband and I. We have been to vets that gave you the sense that, while they accepted that people love and become very attached to their animals, they themselves see them strictly as animals. This is not the case with Dr. Frost. He is caring, sympathetic, and understands how a pet can transition from just a pet to a much loved member of your family. Murphy's passing was handled with consideration, and kindness. Dr. Frost and his staff were wonderful during this ordeal. They did everything possible to make Murphy comfortable and alleviate his and our fears. Shortly after we lost Murphy we received a sympathy card that contained hand written condolances from Dr. Frost and each of his staff. Additionally, we received a card acknowledging a donation made by the clinic to the College of Veterinary Medicine for companion animal research in Murphy's name. These gestures meant so much to my husband and I as we grieved for our little friend. I cannot recommend Dr. Frost and his staff too highly. They are extremely competent, and knowledgeable. But they are also kind, and sensitive to their clients feelings and needs - both animal and human. During Murphy's treatment Sue, the office manager, never failed to call with test results and was very supportive. The vet techs were careful with Murphy, and tried not to cause him any pain or discomfort. I have had dogs all my life, and unfortunately, have lost two others. Dr. Frost is one of the best vets I have ever met. We are not ready to bring another dog into the family at this time, but will not hesitate to bring any future dogs to Dr. Frost for care.
