I never yelp. I use yelp, but I never review. However, I have to give a glowing review to Sonja and all of the amazing teachers at Brooklyn Sandbox. My son is 2 and started at the school in September. He was in a previous daycare and I pulled him from that place because of the lack of understanding on how to work with a very active child. He was biting, regularly given time outs, and overall I wasn't seeing any developmentally appropriate activities conducted by the staff. I saw a sign for Brooklyn sandbox, met with Sonja ( the director) and signed him up. Over the past 3 months I have seen my son blossom! Each day when we walk in there are 2 different sensory activities on the table to choose from, but he can do other things too. The other day they had uncooked spaghetti noodles at king out of homemade playdoh and the kids have to stick Cheerios on the noodles ( yay fine motor activities!) my son's verbal skills have dramatically improved and the complexity of his conversation is clearly due to what is happening in school.
The facility is modern, very clean, and organized. They have a clean and new outside area that includes balance bikes, a climbing structure, and a sandbox. He is outside everyday, which I love. They also have an oven and the kids bake sometimes. Additionally, he interacts a lot with the 3's and 4's at the end of the day. Lastly- they send daily emails with pictures of the kids engaging in activities and the descriptions highlight the developmental benefits to the activities. I feel like I'm learning too.
Overall, I feel lucky to have a spot in this school. Oh and it is cheaper than beansprouts, doesn't involve a Playdate interview and equally amazing! read more
