Brooklyn Editions has a truly stellar team, they deserve every one of their 5 stars especially as an independent business in New York. Precision, expertise, and so much skill, but also how they treat their customers is also really great. Martin and Maya showed me a patience that went beyond their jobs. I had to move my appointment a couple times bc of last minute issues and not once was I treated with less-than awesome communication. Maya took time showing care and detail even with other projects in her pipeline. She made the process super enjoyable for me and helped me perfect a default format for my photography that I'd been struggling with. I was quite specific about my preferences bc of my past negative experiences and she wasn't fazed at all. These guys met my short-window turnaround with ease. My final prints were beyond what I expected and my client was super happy. I can't recommend them highly enough and I cannot wait to work with them in the future. read more

Brooklyn Editions was presented with a unique and challenging project, reproduction of a 75 year old wedding album. The project involved removing 47 original 8x10"photos, scanning and digitizing each in high resolution, printing a set on contemporary, high quality paper and inserting the prints into an album provided. Brooklyn Editions far exceeded the basic requirements in every step of the process. Well beyond the original expectations, Brooklyn Editions stepped in to assist in an otherwise futile search for a suitable album. After exhausting options on many fronts without success, Brooklyn Editions was able to obtain assistance from a custom bookbinder to build the print set into an album that was a striking reproduction of the original. Brooklyn Editions completed this one of a kind project with extreme care and professionalism. Several other candidates were contacted to quote this project and declined. Brooklyn Editions was thoroughly honest at every step of the way with all the details, costs and scheduling. This project demonstrates that complete confidence is justified when Brooklyn Editions quotes and executes a project. read more

Stephen was dishonest. After I paid $183.73 for a picture to be retouched, he put a blank page on my hard drive. He was also rude and obnoxious, and what made it even more unsettling was his fake smile. read more

Over the moon with the quality of service and attention to detail for my first time rush order with this team! Can't wait to use them again for my gallery shows ! read more

The thumbnail scans they emailed of the paintings I sent were over saturated with too much contrast. Brooklyn Editions told me to download their hi-res color corrected versions, but this required signing an intimidating contract, so I offered to visit and view the scans directly from their drive. Brooklyn Editions refused to allow me to do this and threatened to keep my work unless I paid over $600 in cash to accept their unwanted scans. In 25 years, I've never experienced anything like this. Poor work. Terrible service. Frightening experience. read more

I am quite disappointed in the poor customer service at Brooklyn Editions. Coming from Manhattan, I went well out of my way to bring work there for scanning. At the bare minimum, I think it was reasonable to expect a level of professionalism that has been provided by other service bureaus I have used in the past. Brooklyn Editions put their scans on a drive. When I got home, I opened the drive and saw that the files were on it. A couple of months later, when I attempted to actually open the images, all the files were corrupt. I stored the drive in a safe place so there is no reason other than either the drive or the files they provided never worked to begin with. I don't know of a place that doesn't offer courtesy retrieval services, so I asked Brooklyn Editions if / when they could provide scans that I could open. At first, Brooklyn Editions said they would send them for download the next day. Instead, they sent an email saying that their back ups were in storage and left me waiting and wondering about when they might retrieve my scans. This was a few weeks ago. Brooklyn Editions knows that I need the scans now but with no reply from them, I will have to get the scans done elsewhere. read more

Finally! I have been looking for a good, reliable printer for my photos for years. Every one I found either closed up shop overnight or was a complete @$$#%&! to deal with. (Skim my reviews and you'll figure out which @$$#%&! I'm referring to.) Far from an @$$#%&!, Stephen is an absolute pleasure to work with. Nice, friendly guy, very laid back. During our first appointment, we sat in his studio shooting the breeze while he tinkered with my image and ran several test prints before I could even commit to producing the final print - which, by the way, was stunning and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend! read more

There's a reason Stephen gets such great reviews. I needed a last-minute print done for Christmas. He did it super quickly and beautifully, recommended a moderately priced framer, sent it overnight, and I had it ready with tons of time to spare. My schedule was nuts, so he made himself available nights & even weekends to view tests and run the prints. Always helpful, always friendly, always knowledgable and down to earth. Cool & talented guy. Thank you! read more

Stephen really saved us this past weekend. After working for two months on a labor of love - a family tree celebrating the life of my grandfather, we were finally ready to print. Or so we thought. After going to many nearby print shops in midtown Manhattan, we quickly realized that NONE of them were able to handle the job of printing on rice-paper. Desperate and suddenly realizing that we might not be able to present this family tree at Thanksgiving, I did a last-ditch Google search on "printing on rice-paper in NYC" and up came Brooklyn Editions. After seeing that they actually had experience with rice-paper, I quickly got on the phone with Stephen and instantly knew that we were in good hands. We met at his shop a few hours later and went home that evening with a print that was better than we could have ever imagined. Stephen was so accommodating and made us feel like he was a stakeholder in our project. Thanks for ensuring that our Thanksgiving will be a success and that we will be able to celebrate my grandfather's life through this new piece of art. read more

Stephen has been printing my work for about 8 years. I've worked with a few printers, and find Stephen's balance of perfectionism and amiability a great combo to get work done. He's absolutely committed to the highest quality no matter what the effort, while also being highly collaborative. Given the time he's spent on my work, his prices are also extremely competitive. My friend is a photographer who lives in Chicago - she wanted to send me a print and found Stephen in my neighborhood. She was so excited to talk shop with him and see that he was extremely experienced in printing and nerded out with him over E-mail. He offered to print on higher quality paper than she was requesting for the same price. The photo is pristine, and Stephen made the pickup process extremely easy - he's a super nice, welcoming guy with an extremely cool workspace. I'll definitely return to him whenever I need prints. read more

I have printed several bodies of work with Stephen at Brooklyn Editions. He does careful, excellent work, sitting with you for a long as you need to correct your files before printing and then allowing time to consider the print and reprint if necessary. I'm an amateur photographer and recently worked with Stephen at Brooklyn Editions to have some of my photos printed. I highly recommend his services, especially for people like me who are looking for a partner to collaborate with. As an amateur photographer, I still have a lot to learn about the photo editing and printing process. Stephen generously consulted on a number of topics from types of paper to editing suggestions. Importantly, he is a great teacher and helped me learn a lot during our appointment. The images we printed came out perfectly and that would have not been possible without Stephen's help. He's a talented professional with lot of experience to share and is passionate about helping his customers. If you're looking for a professional photo and and artist printing company to work with, go see Stephen at Brooklyn Editions. You won't be disappointed! read more

We got married in July and took our wedding photos to Brooklyn Editions to print and the results were stunning. We called Stephen and then went over to his studio, which is in the South Slope in Brooklyn. It's a very cool space with large prints of art and photos that he has printed over the years. We sat down with him and he helped us narrow down our choices. As he pulled the pictures up he was able to tweak them subtly in Photoshop until the exposures were to his satisfaction - he's a bit of a perfectionist, yet he is super efficient. He even removed someone's arm from the background of one otherwise perfect photo. We ordered a bunch of giclee prints and he recommended printing on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper - the prices were reasonable. Anyway, when we got the results, they were stunning. Previously we had ordered a couple prints from one of the online photo printing sites, but the difference was night and day. The ones form online were alright, but the ones that Stephen printed bordered on fine art - just spectacular. Along with our memories of the event, the photos are kind of what you are left with and to see them printed to such an exacting level - it felt like a gift. read more
