in the fall of 2023, I had a turbo go out on my 2010 Ford Flex on a trip somewhere between Sioux…read moreFalls and Brookings. When I arrived home engine oil was blown all over the engine compartment and the engine had 1.5qts out of 6 left. OIl was filled & car was driven to GP Auto. Jamie (rep at front desk) was told what happened, notified of concern of internal engine damage, asked to diagose & determine if there was internal engine damage. GP Auto diagnosed the front turbo was out and after listening to engine believed there was no internal engine damage. They qouted $2000 to replace the turbo. Due to the car not needing to be utilized it was decided to let the car sit over the winter. In late spring of 2024 I spoke with Jamie & made him aware I wanted to pursue fixing my car but remineded him of possible internal engine damage & to investigate before replacing the turbo because if engine was damaged I do not want to stick $2000 into it . They said it would be a bit & I said that would be fine. A month went by & I inquired where they were at with it & I was informed it would be another couple weeks & again reminded them of the possible internal engine damage. The shop was contacted approximately one month later & again told it would be several weeks. Approximately three weeks later they still had not contacted me, so the shop was contacted again & they said it would be several weeks. And at that time Jamie made the comment "it sat all winter what's the rush". Another shop was contacted at that time & they said they could get it in approximately a week. Jamie was called back & was informed I was taking it elsewhere, he then said he could get it in within the week. Jamie was again reminded of the possible internal engine damage concerns & asked to investigate. The car was repaired. After driving it home from GP (approx 3 miles) my boyfriend drained 1 qt of oil & replaced with Lucas oil stabilizer. The car was driven in town for a week consisting of trips of 4 miles or less. At approx. 40 miles into the first trip on the highway the engine starting knocking, the vehicle was hauled back to GP auto for them to investigate. Based on the mileage on the shop ticket & current odometer there was aprox 150 miles on the vehicle since taken into the shop. GP Auto determined the bearings were damaged due to running low on oil so the engine was shot. Jamie was told we were not happy that the turbo was installed on an engine that was shot Jamie was asked why that was not found when they investigated the engine for damage and how they determined the engine was not damaged to move forward with the repair. His response was "we started it and we listened to it how else was I supposed to tell". The quart that was drained was in a container in my boyfriends pickup out in front of GP Auto. My boyfriend asked Jamie to come out & look. Metallic could be seen in the oil. Jamie was asked if the mechanic drained the oil & inspected for metal flakes before repairing the turbo. His response was sounds like you are a mechanic why didnt you fix it. He proceeded to walk back into the building and told us to never come back. We didnt even get the point of discussing what we expected. As requested I will never go back & want to warn others of my experience and how this business deals with customer compliants. Note we were repeat customers of this business in the past

A quick call to Dakota Service and a big flat-bed truck was on it's way to us. A man, who looked suspiciously like Santa Clause, hauled our SUV to the shop for new tires and an alignment. He also hauled my husband who stayed with the SUV. The entire experience was positive with one exception, the price, which seemed a bit steep even though I don't really have a comparison to verify if that is true or not. But in that situation we could have cared less, we just wanted our vehicle and my husband to be rescued after arranging a ride for the rest of us back to town. And Dakota Service was there on the double to do just that.

This place should have a sign saying we don't know how to fix Toyota's don't bother.. They knew when they got it they didn't know.. I wish I could give this place a -0. Be ware! Brought my girlfriends car in for routine oil change and tire rotation. A few days after we picked it up we noticed the TPMS light was on and her car felt bumpy when driving above 25. Keep in mind this is a brand new 2022 car. We brought it back it for them to check (I lost my tire pressure reader and her car doesn't tell you which tire it is so I wanted them to check all 4 tires but apparently that's unheard of, took another worker for him to understand. the dude literally said "my car tells me which tire it is" as if that is supposed to solve that her car doesn't have that feature) and they claimed everything was fine with the tires so they reset the light. The light turned back on again so we brought it in once again because she was going on a small trip that same afternoon. Same situation, they said everything was fine. Halfway on her drive, her tire blew out so I had to drive 45 minutes to put on the donut. And this isn't just like a regular flat tire, they messed something up bad. Just look at this thing. Never go here!! customer service is horrible, and the repair shop is just as bad.

I can't afford to have it out of service for long and I certainly can't afford to have it out of service multiple times while a quality service shop repairs the damage made from the mistakes of a low-quality service shop. And that is exactly why I won't be taking any of my vehicle to Walmart for service work again. What little I saved on tired in no way way made up for the multiple repairs and issues those apparently old-stock low-bid tires caused. I am all for saving money, but you aren't saving a penny when you are sitting on the Interstate with a blown out tire. Look elsewhere for your service needs, you will be far better off in the long run.
