I firmly believe that the assistance of the Terraces Team, up to and including their stringent rules on COVID-19 visitations, made this a very safe place for all elderly loved ones. I can only hope that when I am old and gray, I will have a group of people who love their job and the people they work with so much that I am taken care of like this.

They have gone above and beyond for my grandpa since day one, they even sent someone out to West Sacramento to meet with him when he was in the hospital for physical rehab. It was very stressful looking for a new home for him, but we are very happy we chose The Terraces for this new chapter of his life. Jessica did not like something I had said in that communication with Pacifica. I am in my 80's, so what she did was not only unethical, but also illegal. Under California law that is elder abuse.

Bright and airy, tastefully decorated, the Winding Commons Senior Apartments are where I'd want to…read morelive when I become unable to live on my own. The grounds are beautiful. There are nice seating areas outdoors and in. In the main lobby is a WII, which was being used as we toured. I was impressed with the number of residents that were out an about and friendly and engaging. Other senior apartments did not seem to have as many happy residents. Only two meals are served each day, lunch and dinner, with a limited selection of choices, but apartments include a full (albeit small) kitchen. Apartments have a nice patio or balcony. There is only one elevator for the entire facility, which seems like a potential hazard if the residents on the second and third floors have mobility problems and need to be evacuated in an emergency. Hallways are covered with smooth industrial (though tastefully patterned) carpet. Apartments however, are carpeted in a deep plush. This makes it difficult for residents using walkers to maneuver in their own apartments. Winding Commons is owned by the same company as Campus Commons Senior Apartments. Winding Commons is the better of the two.

We chose Brookdale Citrus Heights initially for its vast backyard area with walking trails, because we knew our dad would love that! (and he does!). But what really let us know we had something good was when we met the staff. Mayra sat with me and my sister and answered our every question and concern. She listened to our horror stories and reassured us that everything we described--from our dad's behavior, to our own feelings as we struggled through it--was normal. She was patient and treated us like we were the only ones she had to deal with. We took a tour and met other members of the staff and saw that people here really are amazing. They care. And they are genuine. It wasn't long before I saw that Mayra was just the tip of the iceberg of a really great crew! DeDe and Rachel! I got mad love for you two! Thanks for always keeping my dad on track with his health and meds! In every department...whether it's the ladies in Housekeeping, Chuck in Maintenance or the Med Techs and RA's on the floor... they are amazing at doing such great work on such a tireless and thankless job. But they come back day after day and love on my dad, even when he's being a stinker. (quite literally, sometimes). And my dad LOOOVES the food! Thanks Sarina and Emma! :-) When trying to decide where to place a loved one we have learned...you aren't going to find a PERFECT place. The nature of this particular disease will see to that. It's impossible to stay on top of every thing, at every moment, for every person. Especially since a lot of the behavior associated with this seems to be in direct conflict with logic, organization, and tidiness! Anyone taking care of their loved one at home can attest to that. haha But at all times you do the best that you can and continue to love them. That's all anyone can do. This time was even more difficult because of COVID and the statewide restrictions in place, which prevented family from visiting their loved ones, but for good reasons and safety of the patients and staff. For this reason and more, I couldn't have imagined sending her anywhere but Eskaton The Village. The nurses, CNAs, staff, therapists (OT, PT, Speech), doctors, and Zina were absolutely spectacular and very attentive to my mom's care and my many phone calls. I truly appreciate how this facility sets itself apart from the vast majority - they care about their patients. It's clean, the food is good, and the care is top notch. Thank you Zina (office mgr), Tanny (office asst), Melody (Speech), Pernima (PT), Dr. Chai, the friendly Security staff, and so many others I should name!

Less than a week later we decided this was not for us so I told Glen we did not want to be on the waitlist and would not be supplying any additional information. A week later I got a fraud alert from my credit card asking if I had authorized 3500 dollars to Eskaton Village and I said no so the charge was removed. I called Eskaton to complain and was told that Glen was no longer there and they apologized for the fraudulent charge. Today I checked my credit card and found another 3500 dollar charge pending which I will of course dispute! I called again but am still waiting for a call back. I do not think they are dishonest but this level of incompetence makes me very glad we did not go any further with them.
