I never do online reviews, and believe that if I didn't have a good experience, I need to move on…read moreand forget it. However, nobody with a loved on on Hospice should experience what I did. I called several hospice organizations, going against the recommendation of the group home where my sister was living. The director of Oak Creek was terrific with me on the phone. She understood what I wanted, which was good communication, along with excellent care, and assured me that would be the case. She disappeared once the sale was made. She knew I was upset and she listened in on a conversation with another hospice employee. I heard her in the background, suggesting to her employee what should be said. Getting updates, which I requested from the beginning, was a nightmare. Often the staff seemed overwhelmed and rushed when they spoke to me. The notable exception was the Chaplain. I believe the care my sister received was substandard, but I'm not local and can't say any more than that. My recommendation is that you stay away from Oak Creek Hospice.

For the thrift shop itself, they have a wide assortment of items available for sale. Home items, clothing, music, etc. I feel that some things are priced well, while others are overpriced. For instance, they had a power wheelchair in the shop priced at $4,000. I work in the wheelchair industry, so I understand that this chair has value, however, this wheelchair also has a repair history as noted on the back of the chair. For a thrift shop that has a mission of supporting families through such difficult times, I would hope that they would make the pricing on durable medical equipment more accessible to those who truly need it. This is a custom power chair, meaning it won't be a perfect fit for whoever buys it. There would likely need to be modifications and potential repairs, which would be even more out of pocket cost for the family. Other than that, spend time looking around at what else is offered. I liked looking through the home decor.

I am grateful to the employees and volunteers who manage and maintain this business. All proceeds go to Snowline Hospice's Supportive Care and Children's Grief Programs. So worthy in my opinion. Dropping off whatever you may have to donate is easy and simple. You do not even have to leave your vehicle. Employees will come to your car. I just automatically pop open my trunk and they remove the items. Easy peasy. Should you want a receipt for tax purposes... it will be provided at that time. As well as a 10% discount type coupon you may use in the thrift store. It is a win win for everyone. Please consider donating whatever you may no longer need for such a wonderful organization. And, of course, purchases from the store are the backbone of securing the much needed monetary proceeds necessary to fund the programs. Thank you.

It was a challenging decision, but we are now blessed to have made that difficult decision. It gives our family such peace of mind knowing he's in such good hands. One of the biggest reliefs for us has been how they handle the billing process with CalPERS Long Term Care Insurance. They direct bill the insurance company, which means we don't have to worry about being the middle person or dealing with the stress of reimbursements. That alone has saved us so much time and energy. I signed my…read more83 year old mom up for hospice care for bladder cancer and Bristol followed up with the nurses, social worker, and bather. They reminded me to call anytime I had a question. Their accessibility made me feel supported and cared for. They immediately made sure my mom had pain management taken care of. I didn't have to be burdened with waiting in line to get medications. This was significant since I'm the doing all of this alone. The RN case manager, Antoinette, has been a pivotal support agent in my life. She has a very present, nurturing quality to her. I felt safe breaking down into tears in her company. Her compassion, knowledge, and understanding reached my heart as she sat with me as I had a moment of immense grief. She said all the right things during a time I felt most vulnerable. I know this team must have pragmatic tasks of the job dealing with paperwork, but when they are with you they offer their complete presence while also juggling documentation and ordering supplies. The level of authentic care and sincerity means so much to me. I know my mom can feel it as well.

During my search, I have realized that most of the agencies have dealt with difficult situations from their own pasts, which seems to create a certain familiarity.. I know it will be challenging trying to find the right agency, and finding the right caregiver that will want to help us out on the weekends.. Erika was very helpful, but also very upfront that because of the shortage of workers, it may take some time to find someone. I am glad I called.
