To many managers and not enough caregivers. It is a Franchise, they do not care about the service or care , all they see is the dollar sign. When the VA called to have them provide the care I needed, they said they do not have the staff needed to take another client. Shortly thereafter the VA got a call stating they will have the care giver and accepted the responsibility. During the month I was with them, there were no set schedule regarding days, times, or even employees. They kept giving me excuses that they are working on it, but it never turned out. I received nothing but constant lies, from the original person that came in for the initial interview to management and even the schedulers. BE VERY CAREFULL OF THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL PROMISE YOU EVERYTHING BUT DELIVER NOTHING. THEY ARE NOTHING BUT A WELL-RUN MARKETING COMPANY.

They take excellent care of my mom, first and foremost. They also reassure me and I feel like I've made several new friends. I can tell they truly care about my mom, and have gone above and beyond to keep her house clean (for which she has super high standards), which is very important to her. They've taken great care of her dog and cat, and spoil and love them when they are there. It is so important to be able to have caring people you can trust when you're not there. I've heard them talking to her when I'm there and they are so caring and reassuring her all the time. Today, I came over and baked, and they even cleaned up after me! I don't know the names of all the care givers that have been there, but Kayla, Chloe, Dorene, and Sarah have all just been amazing. I wish I didn't have to say goodbye when they are no longer needed. Carrie and Ashley in the office, are always available and take care of any questions or concerns immediately. I knew as soon as I and my first meeting with Ashley, we were in good hands. We had another service in a few years ago after my mom broke her wrist, and they were quite a disappointment. I am so happy to have this group caring for my mother as she deals with a serious illness. It is a scary time and leaving my mom in the care of others is a bit nerve wracking, but I feel incredibly lucky to have found these caregivers because I don't have any worries at all when I leave the house. Very, very thankful for all the help they've given us.

If I was looking for a place for someone in my family this would be it. As someone who has worked in several similar homes the employees here are second to none. There are some very sad and scary things that happen in some hospice care homes and you will never have to worry about that here. The owner, Shanell truly loves each resident and goes above and beyond to make them comfortable and happy with such patience and compassion its unbelievable. It was my joy to work for her for over a year.

Friendship and…read moreassistance Friendship Village is a senior living facility situated on 75 lovely acres. Lots of flowers, trees, gardens, benches and well maintained lawns makes Friendship Village a lovely and very pleasant place. Friendship Village is actually divided into several parts, an independent living area, a assisted living and memory unit, a short term rehabilitation facility and a skilled long term living area. Individuals can move from one area to another as needs and health changes. The inside is absolutely gorgeous, clean, spacious and decorated with flowers and art. It really does feel like a fine hotel in many way. The independent living facility has individual apartments that are as nice as most "regular" apartment of condos, with the addition of meals and recreational events and programs. This is not a traditional nursing home by any means. All four of the different units are well thought out and every single staff member we've met has been caring, skilled and a joy to be around. Despite all the clichés like "you're not getting older, you're getting better" getting old sucks. But Friendship Village assures that getting old and possibly requiring assistance with certain life skills does not have to be degrading and harsh.

She brought enough furniture to make it cozy but not overly crowded. She also has a carport and even brought her cat, Garfield. She has bi-weekly housekeeping but does her own laundry as her apartment came with a washer & dryer. The maintenance team has been responsive - hanging TV and pictures. She just loves it there and has made many new friends. She participates in the activities that she is interested in - bingo, music, outings, and the happy hours. Every day when I speak to her, she tells me what all they had for dinner and that everything is so good. Normally it is normally a choice of soup or salad, choice of 2 or 3 entrees that come with 2 sides, and a choice of dessert. I had dinner in the StoryPoint's dining room a few nights ago and I do have to say it was pretty good. My pork tenderloin was moist, the mashed potatoes were prepared just like I like them, and the dessert was delicious. She made the decision to move, and it has been a blessing to both her and to her family to know she is in a safe environment, surrounded by new friends, and that she is happy.

The memory care unit is very short staffed, often with just one care giver for 20 residents. It is hard to keep all residence safe when the ratio is 20 to 1. My father, who is wheel chair/ bed bound, suffered falls, etc. Many of the caregivers there pulled me aside and apologized for the short staffing and the inability to take care of the residents. My father is on hospice and each time there was an incident regarding my father his case manager documented it, as required by law. Unfortunately, Story Point did NOT.....no record to be found. When hospice staff inquired, the response was, "there was no incident". We learned a big lesson.....the way things "look" and the way things "are" are two very different things. I believe the independent living side is fine and perhaps assisted living, but memory care is not. Please do not send your loved one to memory care at Story point. Our Father is now at North Woods Village and it is night and day!! They are staffed, competent, kind, and extremely caring. We feel very, very blessed that we are able to get dad into this wonderful facility.
