I understand shops get busy, this location is "first come first served", and I don't expect anyone to magically make time appear or drop everything to check out the new car. I don't work there and I walked in, so I have no idea what things look like behind the scenes. The issue wasn't that they were busy, it was that the expectations set didn't reflect reality. After walking around the area for about an hour after drop-off, I returned and noticed my vehicle was still sitting in the same guest parking spot at the side of the building where I had left it. By 11:00 (after waiting over 90 minutes/nearly two hours from drop-off) with no phone call update and no apparent movement of the vehicle, I went to the front desk to ask about the status. Shortly after I asked, the vehicle was brought into the shop and I was assured the diagnostic would take "about" 30 minutes. It ended up taking closer to 50 before I got up again to ask about an update. My main frustration was not the diagnosis itself, but the communication and expectations throughout the process. Everyone I interacted with was polite and reasonable, but I was given the same optimistic timeline despite the shop evidently being backed up. If I had been told up front that it would be hours before the vehicle would be moved, let alone looked at, I would have planned my morning differently. I do want to clarify that the issue wasn't attitude or service, it was a lack of clear and realistic communication. Better coordination internally and more honest timelines for customers would make a big difference.

Shame of me for using Big Brand Auto twice…read more I had front brakes serviced her last July. The brakes sounded like the right front pad was going bad. They looked at it and said the rotor was heat glazed(never before heard this term). I asked if the rotor was covered by the warranty and told I had exceeded the 12,000 mile warranty(17,000). The bottom line is out of luck on brake work done ten months earlier. Interesting that the rear brake work done at Firestone wasn't having any problems at all...this work done ten days after Big Brand Auto took six hours to do my front brakes last July. Now I'm 62 and have changed brakes/had work done for forty years. At no point did the brakes last less than 40,000 miles. So I'm taking my car to Firestone where I have confidence in what they say. Bottom line no way will we use Big Brand Auto again.

They quickly found out what was wrong with my car, offered a reasonable price to fix the problem, and repaired it. I showed up at 8:00 and was out of there a little after noon.
