Yes its a Wetherspoon pub. In any other town in England this wouldn't be at all interesting but in Pontefract its big news. As far as Wetherspoon pubs go its not a bad one, reasonably cozy atmosphere rather the sterile atmosphere you get at some. With regard to food, drink, and prices; they're exactly as you'd expect. Good beer, very cheap, standard chain-pub food (read "not very good"), again, very cheap. Far too busy on a Friday or Saturday night but if you fancy a cheap quiet drink on a weekday it beats the pants off everywhere else in Pontefract. read more

A large Wetherspoons, usual food and drink. When crowded is very noisy. Smallish beer garden at the rear. Lacks atmosphere at quiet times.

We use the broken bridge almost every evening, we meet friends there and have a good old chat for an hour. Occassionally we eat there and always find the food good, the staff are friendly, my only complaint especially at this time of the year is, its a very cold pub I know its a very big pub but they could light the fire which is very rarely lit. read more

We love the Broken Bridge! Tuesday night is steak night and it is excellent value for money! £5.99 for a steak and including a pint or wine with it - you can't buy and cook the ingredients at that cost! Staff are friendly and attentive! It has cosy corners and an open fire glowing or you can sit at the front of the pub in a bar like environment! Highly recomended! read more
