I've since returned with my younger two children for cleanings & for follow up visits for my oldest. My entire crew enjoys visiting this practice! Staff has been consistently friendly & helpful. Hygienist and doctors are skilled & knowledgable. They have provided quality care and ongoing clear communication. Paperwork is complete online prior to appointments or in-office with a tablet. The waiting area are child friendly & fun -- complete with arcade style game machines (Pac-Man, Stargate, Galaga, Multicade) and sit-on monster trucks. In our case, every day is different and many times good oral hygiene is a struggle, leading to many, many teeth and gum issues. We have taken our daughter to over 20 dentists in the Birmingham metro area (yes, early on, we called UBA and the wait was a year for anesthesia), and Brocks Gap is THE ONLY DENTISTS who were willing to save our daughter's teeth. THEY CARE. Dentists, hygienists, DAs, managers, receptionists, etc. are there to help, but this is how they feed their families and they must be paid (this is a finger shaking to the negative reviewers who are angry that they charge a late or no-show fees). They went above and beyond to help a middle-class family who did not have all the funds to give their daughter a new start with her teeth. They are working with a new company that doesn't focus on credit score allows patients to make monthly payments for dental work, so if you think you can't afford to go to the dentist, give them a call. They have so many options for struggling families just like us. If you have a fear of dental work, you can even request anesthesia, which is a must with our child, who has extreme anxiety and could not tolerate the time sensitive and lengthy dental care she needed. If you have a child who is autistic, you will be in VERY SAFE HANDS at Brocks Dental. We will be letting families everywhere know that there is a dental facility that can care for the whole family, but ESPECIALLY our autism babies who need the kind of care that they give. We will never, ever forget the compassion and empathy given by each person who makes Brocks Gap what it is, a place where parents are not judged, and a true love of children and their well-being is so very apparent. I have been driving from the Ballantrae community in Pelham for over a year. Each location works well due to their proximity to I-65. As an adult patient whose needs were not as complex as others' I never anticipated I would be treated as their most important patient, though that is what you experience with Samuelson Orthodontics. From the moment you speak with them you are cared for no less than they would care for their own family. The treatment plan, along with the financial aspect of it, is plainly explained. I was new to the world of braces since my formerly straight smile was becoming V-shaped and teeth had started to shift. I selected metal braces and had fun with the jokes from my friends and family. Let me tell you it is obvious he is not a patient dentist and is very rude and obnoxious. He told me that my appointment was for an exam and that I would have to schedule to have it pulled. Then he proceeded to tell me that he had 14 other people to attend to and slammed the door as he left the room. Unprofessional, and unbelievable, what a terrible example of showing to me that we were not wanted in that office and it showed. He showed my son no respect and me no respect. So I would definitely expect for him to do the same to your family. He is terrible and I would never recommend him to anyone. My 6-year-old and 10-year-old do not like their dental appointments, but today, they were put at ease. Dare I say, they will probably not be apprehensive of their follow-up in the Fall. The lobby caters to kids of all ages. There are tablets mounted on the walls with games that kids will like, a tv playing children's programming, and toys the smaller kids would enjoy. The office even has WiFi so us parents have something to enjoy. When my kids went to the back, Dr. Crawford-McKendall and her assistant made sure to explain what they were doing each step of the way. They also talked to the kids about the importance of brushing and flossing in a kid-friendly, positive way. The doctor also explained any concerns she had to me and told me what I steps I can help the kids take to ensure they continue to have great teeth. However, I never received my refund for the out-of-pocket payment, and despite several attempts since October, I have not received a refund from them yet.

I went to several consultations over the years, but it was not until a few months ago that I decided to finally do something about it. On September 1, 2020, I went for a braces consultation here. I knew that Birmingham Orthodontics does same day braces so I had my teeth cleaned by my general dentist a couple weeks prior. At the consultation, I had X-rays, pictures, and an examination of my teeth. After that, the orthodontist told me I was a good candidate for braces. He also said I could get my braces same day, which I chose to do. I paid and then I got my braces on. It was an easy process. I was not in any pain during or after the braces being installed. I have been back twice since my braces were initially installed. Each time, the staff has taken precautions for Covid-19 and has been prompt and professional. When I ask questions, they have been answered. My treatment so far has been great! My teeth are moving well! I'm looking forward to this journey to straighter teeth. The orthodontist we had was a very nice older gentleman that takes the time to understand what is needed and quickly determines the path that is needed... and if you are ready, and they can fit you in they can put them on right after the initial consult. That is what we opted for... now as far as the "tune ups" every 6 weeks, these are pretty quick as well. My daughter is only back there for about 15 minutes. Now not knowing anything about braces as I never had the opportunity as a child. Needless to say braces are a lot of work as well to maintain. My daughter was not fully prepared but is finally getting the idea. I will say do your research on additional items you need. Like little brushes for "in between tooth paste brushing. Also listen very close to the instruction, these are not a suggestion but mandatory. If you do not take care of these they can actually damage your teeth... all of this information is give. To once the braces are on. As far as cost... yeah it is kinda expensive, but if you need to you can finance them... All in all we are really happy with this place, and I would recommend anyone here to get their teeth straightened.
