The trip takes about 2 hours if the river is flowing fast but in Aug 2021, the river was super low and they said that it was taking folks 3-5 hours. You leave your car at the take-out and they shuttle you up. I only had 2 hours. I called and they left a kayak out for me at the Dundas take-out. In the morning, I paddled up river to the Cannon River Wilderness Area (I'd guess 2 miles) and then paddled back to the take-out. It was really pretty. It is all trees along this section of river. I saw lots of birds. I think the part in the wilderness area is even nicer so do the 7-mi trip if you have time. If you do the trip when the river is low, make sure to take shoes for walking in the river. You'll need to get out and drag the boat sometimes. So like tennis shoes not flip flops. The owner was super nice and helpful on the phone.

The snowshoe hike was moved near Northfield, MN and alot more hills and climbing than expected. However, we did get a great view of the ice caves. Also, the sandwiches and soup was delicious. At the end, we had a nice winetasting before heading back home. Our guides were the best and made everyone felt at ease without pushing too hard.

I don't know if they were trying to pull off the Bass Pro Shops idea or what but it really didn't work. We went in looking for hockey equipment and the selection here was incredibly limited, which is surprising considering the area. My husband was looking for higher end stuff, and of course they didn't really have very many options for what little they carried. I guess this place would get the job done if you have to gear up a little kid, but to be honest spending the kind of money they were asking for the level of equipment they have seems pretty silly to me. The employee that we had to hunt down for help was not very useful at all, and it was obvious he didn't know much about the equipment that was in the section he worked in. You could tell he knew enough to retail sale, but not really recommend. In any case, Play It Again Sports is a better option close by.

(A Christmas Story)…read more When Ralphi mentioned "plunging into the cornucopia, quivering with desire...", surely he was thinking of this massive store's selection of equipment for outdoor sportsmen, notably including an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle! If that isn't enough to tear Ralphi's dad away from the leg lamp for a trip to Cabela's, the chance to get a free 4" x 6" pic with Santa on the second floor should do the trick. Better yet, this Santa won't roughly push the kiddos down a slide after telling them they'll shoot their eyes out! With so many departments like fishing, camping, and toys, along with a huge aquarium in a cave and a gigantic replica of a mountain, you won't get bored shopping here. Minnesnowtans should check out the ActionHeat section, because we don't actually enjoy becoming human popsicles in winter! If you're offended by taxidermy, oh fuuudge...avoid all the North American and African mounts, including a huge elephant and rhino. While I dislike the aspect of the trophy hunting and mounts, kids are mesmerized comparing their tiny size to the large scale of these beautiful beasts and seeing them in their replicated habitats. This store has a little something for everyone, whether you're a Scut Farcus, a Ralphi, or a Mrs. Parker. If driving through Owatonna, make sure to stop at Cabela's--I triple dog dare you! Also, be sure to drink your Ovaltine.

Owatanna's location is one of the more grander Cabela's that I've been to in the Midwest. It was a pretty decent sized building with a decent amount of item variety and a huge taxidermy display right in the middle of it all. I really enjoyed the taxidermy and mount displays at this location. There was a huge diversity of animals from around the world and the quality of the displays was on the same level of a natural history museum. Just walking around and looking at everything was a fun time. There is even a walkthrough aquarium that shows off local sports dish species. Staff were friendly and helpful and prices for most items were very reasonable, especially sale items. The only thing missing was one of those penny arcade gun ranges where you shoot things and they move, oh well!

I love a lot of the brands that they do carry. Yeti, Nike, Underarmor, and even You Betcha brand. If you haven't heard of those guys you should google em. I have heard this is the place for cat or dog food in bulk at a good price. I know they have a gigantic assortment of cat towers. I really like their plastic bins for storage. Since target doesn't carry my sterilite tubs any more fleet farm is the only place I can find them. I like to keep everything matching. Keep them in mind for kids' toys and games. They have rows and rows of options. Customer service is hard to come by. We have actually called the store on our cell phone in order to get assistance in finding something. The cashiers are always great but they don't put many people on the sales floor.

It's odd it was always in fleet farm's favor. The one good thing about the store it sells a lot of products for my farm I'd be interested in buying. I don't know where to begin with what's wrong with it. The place is dubbed "dirt farm" because of its dirt and dust everywhere. Not to mention all the birds flying around everywhere dropping their feces on food and all around the store. How it hasn't been shut down by the health department or how Phil the store manager keeps his job is beyond me. The store received nearly 1.5 million dollars of tax payer money from the city of Carver for being an "anchor store". You'd think they'd use it to keep the birds out and from dropping feces on the grocery items. I could write a whole book on what's wrong with fleet farm and my bad experiences, but I don't want to write that long of a review. What I will say is in short, as a former customer to this store/fleet farm, we are all pawns to be taken advantage of, the store manager Phil thinks no different. Fleet farm took advantage of 3000 people dying on 9/11 to gouge its customers $6 a gallon for gas. That same ethos is in Phil, he is an opportunistic bottom feeder, lower than a snake's belly.
