The staff in Farm street are lovely. They are all very polite, pleasant and chatty. It does get quite busy in there at times and as it is only small, there is no space to queue but the staff are very competent and soon get through the queue. The shelves are always well stocked and if you can't find what you want you can always ask. Of course there isn't much choice on offer but the selling point is like I said the convenience. They do have a good reduced section though and you can usually get reduced priced bread and salads as well as meats and fish. Sainsburys local do still have some of the offers on from the big stores so it is always worth a look if you have one near you.

I also noticed they have flowers, cards and gift card, always handy for last minute presents! Unlike most convenience stores in the area they tend to have pretty good avalability, and if its not in stock the staff will find out when its back, or if a another store has it. Several times he has made small talk with me, which is nice as it makes me want to pop back in here. The prices are fairly reasonable for a convenience store and I have been to more expensive stores in the area. Open from early morning until at least 10pm every night this isn't somewhere you'd travel miles to visit but if you live nearby it's a great place to purchase things like compost or barbeque briquettes. They are also notable for stocking a good range of real-ales, an extensive selection of doggie treats (which get the seal of approval from Dave the greyhound) and the man who runs it is a really nice chap who often compliments us on how well Dave is looking and very much lives by the adage 'the show must go on'. Not only does the shop stay open at Christmas and New Year but perhaps most memorably of all through a recent power cut where thanks to a torch-lit fetching service the people of Northfield Road were able to continue to make their essential purchases of booze, fags and Monster Munch.

It is a pretty standard convenience store, with basic food and household items alongside booze and newspapers. I purchased some chewing gum so I didn't exactly do much in the way of in-depth research. It looks massive from the outside, but is actually rather small inside. There are lots of convenience stores in Old Hill and this one is perhaps middle ranking. It is convenient and it is a store. I've been in better and I've been in worse.

It has a pretty decent selection of wines, spirits and beers, a small selection of fridge food, fresh milk etc and not too shabby amount of cupboard food and confectionery. If you find that your first choice of shop/supermarket is closed be sure to always give this place a go. The shelves were reasonably well stocked, and a Costa Express coffee machine served hot drinks only. It was easy enough to get in and out of the store in a couple of minutes, using the Sainsbury's Smartshop app which allows you to scan items as you're walking around the store, and then you can pay via the app, scan the QR code in the exit area and head out. The prices are inflated because it is a convenience store, if you have more time you may want to head to the larger Morrisons in Edgbaston which is only a short ride away on the tram. The security guard at the front of the store came across as rude and felt like he was trying to intimidate customers and just made me feel uncomfortable when I was doing nothing wrong. 3* - Pretty typical Sainsbury's Local, very useful location for a convenience store is the highlight to write home about.
