Since I flew a red eye into MAN, I was pretty hungry by the time the restaurant opened. The waitress took pity on me and opened a little early to take my lunch order. Had the cheese and bacon hamburger. I was starving, so it tasted fantastic. Came back here for dinner to see if my thoughts on the food would change. Had the rib eye, side salad and the cauliflower fritters. All were very good. There's also several tables outside with umbrellas over them for shade. Hotel: first hotel I've ever stayed in that doesn't have a/c in the rooms!!! Makes a little more sense, when a friend of mine in the local area said that they've been having an extraordinary streak of heat and days without rain. Regardless, in room a/c is a must! If your travel plans bring you to Rochdale, this is worth a visit.

Didn't eat here on the evening as a separate event room had been hired and we had a buffet in there. Buffet included paella which isn't your normal buffet food but was a welcome change from sandwiches and sausage rolls! Had a quick drink in the bar which has a nice pub feel to it and a big open fire that would be perfect in winter. Breakfast was fresh and you had choice of cooked or continental or both if you were feeling hungry/ greedy but was busy at 9am on Sunday morning. It's served in the main restaurant. Heard good things about Fallen Angels Italian ( which at first i thought was a dodgy night club) restaurant so will need to come back to try that!

A friend wanted a spa day for her birthday (that's the equivalent of a banging club night at our…read moreage) and this hotel came up on an Internet search. The facilities looked really good so a group of 7 of us booked in. They have various deals where you can use the spa facilities alone or add on treatments and/or meals. I had a back massage, used the spa and had a bento box lunch with wine for £50. Bargain. On arrival the car park has lots of space and is just near the spa entrance. Watch out though they charge £5 for a robe and towel which I thought was cheeky considering my robe was not very clean. Anyway the locker room is decent and the lockers had plenty of space. I went upstairs and had some herbal tea in a little room while I waited for my massage. This was done by Carys and she is amazing! One of the best massages I've had. Afterwards I went back into the drinks room and sat with another tea looking out onto the balcony with lovely views. After we were all ready we spent time in the spa. They have a pool, jacuzzi, heated infinity pool with lovely jets all round the seats and four heated saunas of different types. The infinity pool looks out over a lovely view and the fresh air is really nice after a hot sauna. They have a range of ice showers so you can switch between the hot and cold to help your circulation, I felt amazing after doing this a few times. I can't recommend this place highly enough for this area alone. If you any to just use these facilities it is only £12! A complete bargain, I will be going all the time now. It was so relaxing. Lunch was served back in room I had my teas in. Really nice 'bento box' style layout but with chicken salad, chocolate torte and fruit instead of japanese cuisine. There was also a prawn salad option or a Mediterranean vegetable version, my friends said these were lovely too. What a find! I can't wait to go back. Not a five star due to the dirty robe and quite a bit of confusion over our lunch (forgot 2 of them, brought them out wrong, another one had no fruit on it) but these were minor issues and didn't affect my overall enjoyment.

I luckily didn't have to stay over night however I did have lunch. The food was a strange assortment & mismatch of deep fried Brie, rostis, stroganoff coranation chicken, mayonnaise, pitta and humous. This was all greasy and pretty disgusting. The carpark took 15minutes to get out of due to the broken intercom ands backlog of cars formed trying to leave. All in all it was a frustrating and dissapointing experience. I won't ever be returning again.

On this occasion, however, I was the designated driver so this was more of a reconnaissance visit for my return - and I am going to return as it was excellent here. Given the choice between the restaurant and the brasserie, we chose to sit in the latter - as it would be quieter and you'd get to see said 'Gin Emporium'. You can also get their full menu served here too as well as the bar menu so I'd advise to book in advance as there aren't many tables in this section. Their Signature Menu had apparently been awarded a AA rosette, which is a rare feat - though definitely deserved as we loved both courses. At two courses for £25 or three for £30 it was very reasonable indeed given the quality of the food. You can obviously order lighter snacks from their other menus. Service was warm and friendly - we were well taken care of throughout and not rushed despite how full they were. If it hadn't been chucking it down we'd have gone for a local walk as well - the village of Delph is charming. Tip: on the last Thursday of every month they hold a gin masterclass. Tickets are £15 per person and a light supper is included.
