I'm from Cincinnati and am always looking for GF/DF bakeries around the area that I can try (since…read moreI have a love for sweets but have the GF/DF limitation). So when I found Purely Sweet Bakery on Instagram, I was super excited and wanted to try them the next time I was in the Dayton area. Since I don't live close by, I ended up buying everything that was GF/DF. I wasn't sure how long they had been sitting out, but I found majority of the items to be dry. Good flavor, but dry. I've had cookies and bars other places near me that are GF/DF and not dry...the only difference I can think of is that I was able to get those items fresh, whereas with these being on the shelf, maybe was the difference. Or maybe the cookies were meant to be a crunchy cookie. Chocolate Chip Cookies - good flavor, crumbly Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies - good flavor, crumbly Oatmeal Cream Pie - dry and too sweet for me Buckeye Donut - delightful flavor, very dense and a lot of icing, but I know that kept it on the moist side. Cinnamon Roll - great flavor, but still dry on the inside even after heating it up per instruction. Sticky Bun - great flavor, but dry on the inside as well after heating up. 6 Layer Bar - too too sweet for me Salted Carmel Cookie Bar - too sweet for me What I'll probably do next time is order some of the items ahead of time and pick them up day of. All in all, I'm always a huge fan of bakeries that have allergen friendly items and create baked goods for us allergen peeps to partake in. I give a shout out of appreciation to you. Thank you!

They created the entire design using buttercream icing only--no fondant, no edible printing--and somehow made it look absolutely perfect. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were incredible. Beyond the cake itself, the people here are what make this bakery so special. Everyone was kind, down-to-earth, and genuinely excited about what they were creating. You can tell the decorator truly loves what they do, and that passion shows in every detail. When my mom and I picked up the cake, we both cried. We've had our fair share of birthday cakes that didn't turn out as hoped, so seeing this one was such an emotional moment. It was everything we had imagined and more. And the best part? It didn't just look amazing--it tasted amazing too. The buttercream was delicious, the cake was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and every single guest commented on how good it was. So often you get a cake that's beautiful but disappointing to eat, but this bakery absolutely nailed both. It's rare to find a hometown bakery that combines exceptional talent with such genuine, caring service. This wasn't just a beautiful cake--it was a memory we'll always cherish. Thank you for making my birthday so incredibly special. We will absolutely be back!

Anyway I mostly came here for their desserts! When I first walked in to the store, I was a little turned off by the smell inside of it. But I went in anyway because I wanted to try this place out. Their display case was a little lackluster so I settled on some cookies. They were pretty good. There were five or so varieties of cookies. But I guess because of the name, Chantilly Cream Dessert Shop I thought there would be custards, cakes, or maybe even cream puffs here. Not pies, cookies, and shortbread cookies. There wasn't any cakes on display for you to buy a slice either. This is more of a café with some desserts. There's sandwiches, soups, and an even bigger menu on the weekends.
