After his class they gave him ribbons that said he was ready for the next class and one for completing his 1st swim class. He was so thrilled! They have so much to offer. Swimming, gymnastics is, preschool, huge indoor climbing gym for rainy days and holiday themed events. They have easy sign ups online as well. This place is AWESOME! At other swim schools, instructors pushed him to put his face in the water instead of listening to his concerns, and it never worked. Zen Penguin was completely different. Their instructors truly listen to kids and meet them where they are. The coaches are calm, present, consistent, and incredibly kind. They take the time to build trust and confidence. Now my once water-avoidant tween cannonballs into the deep end with his friends. My younger child has thrived here too; he went from no swim skills to strong streamlines and rollovers in just a few months. I especially appreciate their focus on real safety skills, like making sure every child can back float to breathe so they have a way to self-rescue. We always have eyes on the kids when they swim - but now I have the peace of mind knowing they have the skills to stay safe even when they're out of arm's reach. I enjoy swimming and Cascade has the best pool in the area so participation here is a matter of limited selection. My problem is the lack of policy/signs/refereeing something that keeps inconsiderate lane swimmers in line. Cascade has no posted policy or signs that direct how people should behave when there are others waiting for a lane. Since there are numerous older adults that seem to have developed blindness because they don't 'see' people waiting nor do they ask anyone. Instead, they see someone getting out of the pool and head directly to the lane that just opened up simply not caring that others are waiting. Most people seem to want to avoid conflict so nothing gets said empowering those who are already feel privileged enough to just jump in. Then there's me. I will say something and I might not be nice about it because your rudeness put you in my path. So, lane cutters if you can't turn to those waiting and ask then expect to get called out or for me to jump in 'your' lane. I simply won't stand for your rude behavior or whatever excuse you have for being like you are. As for Cascade - this on you. You have no policy, no guidance and no monitoring leaving us adults to police themselves. Fortunately, most do an exceptional job of policing themselves and have decency and courtesy. However, there are some that don't possess decency and probably have limited self-control when confronted about their behavior that could lead to an altercation between parties. If this were to happen to me you can bet that I would seeing you in court... And, while you are pondering this matter please scrub the pool! It's filthy. The walls and floor of the pool are coated in brown slime that cause slip when trying to push off. P.S. this also applies to those that are in a lane and invite someone that just shows up to join them instead of the next person in line as it should be. Friends don't get a free pass to the head of the line.

He took the time to ask me about my personal fitness goals and gave me a detailed road map of how I would accomplish them. During the personal training session, he had me do some exercises that I normally don't do, nonetheless, it gave me a good idea of some exercises to do to increase anaerobic activity, core strength, and stability. After the work out he took the time to get to know me and I was able to get to know him too. Overall, he was very friendly, personable, and I highly recommend his services to anyone interested in personal training. So far, I have greatly enjoyed my membership with LA fitness. I appreciate that they are open an hour later on the weekend compared to other gyms in town. Also, the kids club is a huge plus for me as a single Dad. Best gym in town hands down and the staff is amazing! I honestly do not understand why anyone would want to go anywhere else. I worked out at Planet Fitness for years and wish I would have made the change years ago! The gym at LA is very clean and they do a great job keeping the sanitizing stations locked and loaded. The amenities cannot be matched and the variety of equipment is excellent. Lastly, and most importantly, the ladies look much better over here. Two thumbs up and 5 stars from the Galenator!!!

I was most disappointed in the workout room upstairs though. They have more classes than the East Vancouver location, but the room at the Hazel Dell location is half the size, and the A/C apparently hasn't been working for the past three months. They propped open the two doors and placed a single box fan at the entrance, but that's it. It got so incredibly hot and stuffy in there with all the bodies in the room. It's honestly a safety hazard and completely negligent on their part. Someone almost passed out during a previous class. How has it been three months and they still haven't fixed the A/C?!
