I do love me some charity shop shopping.
I have a little challenge with myself that's been going on for about three years now. There is a particular run of Penguin Shakespeare plays that are out of print now, and have been for a good long while. I've been trying to build a complete collection of these prints by finding them second hand. It'd be very easy to jump online and buy the whole run for about £30, but that'd suck all the fun out of it.
Shops like this BHF are the reason why I've just crested the halfway point in my little endeavour. Their huge selections of second hand books let me while away the hours hunting down my chosen prey. This British Heart Foundation is particularly impressive in this respect, having an entire back wall dedicated to second hand books.
It's the kind of place where, even if you're looking for something specific, you're going to be leaving with a couple of things you didn't plan for. And that's never a bad thing. read more
