This is one of the better of the already very good charity shops around the city centre, and is reasonably priced and well-stocked. There are the usual selections of jeans, trousers, skirts, dresses, shoes, tops and handbags, and not a bad selection for guys either unlike a lot of other places. They also sell new costume jewellery as well as quite a few old and vintage pieces.
The real selling point of this shop is in its very well stocked DVD/video and books section. A lot of charity shops seem to limit these to a dusty shelf with a few ancient films no-one's heard of or old Dickens of poor quality. But when I was in BHF a few days ago, their video section was as well stocked as always, with what looked like the entire collection of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also remember seeing the full collections of both Stargate and Friends here on previous visits.
Household stuff isn't as well represented, but there are usually a few new things to pick up for only a few quid, and they also have a toy section which is where I got my new Disney Store Eeyore for three quid. He sits mournfully on top of my wardrobe and is a nice if somewhat odd addition to my bedroom.
This shop is just behind Primark and up the street from the Oxfam vintage clothing shop I've previously reviewed, and forms part of a nice little shopping triangle for the bargain hunters among us. read more
