my wife is under care with Bristol a request to evaluate her present condition was requested nurse Lori came next morning when she arrived she was very rude taking over a negative conversation i was having with a family member which was none of her business other issues of note she asked me to leave my wife that i was consoling after suddenly awaken by 4 people in her room 2 that she invited in causing my wife immediate stress she then turned to me in the presence of this annoying assembly & said you make me very uncompfortable exact words i cant remember i was so stunned I LEFT the room afterwards she walked through my house till she found me to say she was leaving my response was im really taken back by your unprofessional performance coming at me like a freight train IN MY HOME she became agitated & confertational im now researching other Hospice company 's btw EVERY other nurse from bristol talked with compassion & cared for our well being not stone cold like Lori read more

So very disappointed with this hospice service. They don't seem to realize that a person being discharged home from ICU with hours to maybe a couple of days to live deserves expediency. They proposed "Intake" for late in the day the next day and that then they would order needed supplies and medications. This would have left my loved one without ANY pain control for 48 hours!!! They refused to work with family about scheduling. After explaining the situation to the "salesperson" who thought they had our business all locked up, I decided to dump this hospice service and go with someone ese. They just were not responsive to our needs. We chose Asante Hospice and they have been absolutely wonderful. They arrived same day bringing medication needed and had medical equipment ordered and in place within an hour!!! Top notch. read more

My father died after being in agony for three days while Bristol Hospice workers refused to give him adequate palliative care and medication. My father had multiple falls with head injuries in the weeks prior to his death. He suffered a stroke on a Tuesday which left him paralyzed on one side. He could not communicate and he could not swallow. Instead of providing my father with injections of pain killers and sedatives they insisted his caregiver give him over the counter tylenol rectally. They also offered morphine to be given orally after being crushed and mixed with liquid. He couldn't swallow so he just drooled it out. They claimed they were unable to get the medication he needed. Watching my father pass in this way was the most horrifying experience. Despite multiple complaints to hospice staff, not one provided palliative care to make him comfortable. They stood by and watched him writhe in pain and refused to adequately medicate him. He died four days after his stroke and after tremendous suffering. The staff told me the process my father went through was normal and natural. Yes, it probably was. However, he was on hospice care to prevent needless suffering by providing adequate medication. A physician commented that the treatment my father received was unprofessional and unconscionable. My father opted to go on hospice a few months before he passed away. He was "sold" on it because the hospice rep who convinced him to sign up told him it would "protect his caregiver from investigation by the sheriff's department" once he passed. They also offered respite care for his caregiver which they failed to provide. They let my father and family down in so many ways. If you have another option, choose it. These folks don't care and cover up there falsehoods with medical doublespeak. read more
