Did you ever see one of those roadside stands, but didn't feel comfortable stopping? Well, stop here! In their own wooden buildings between an old weathered barn and the big white house/studio, Klaus Sporck and his son Leif Sporck sell their wares. Sporck Tile Art is by Leif, and depicts the wildlife, landmarks, and geography of his home in Northern Michigan. People from local staple towns such as Leland, Suttons Bay, Northport, and Glen Arbor will find something meaningful to them.
Klaus Sporck has been in the pottery business for decades (my grandmother, mother, and I all have his pottery in our homes), and uses many dark neutral tones like brown, cobalt, and green in his pottery. Each large piece is signed with his KS initials and an inscribed description of the day's weather and the date- this is a fun detail that makes me smile every time I serve on one of his plates.
Definitely pop in for a look, and know that custom orders for addresses or name plates can be made for Sporck Tiles. read more
