The place inspires in me what my husband refers to the "Target-Thousand-Yard Stare" - which apparently the look I get on my face when I browse the aisles of Target, child free. (You know what I'm talking about, fellow moms ;). The shop is beautifully curated. You know that whoever does the buying for this place puts a tremendous amount of heart into the items they select. There are seasonal items like graduation gifts, Mother's/Father's Day presents, and even Christmas ornaments that are perfect souvenirs to remind you of beautiful Glen Arbor in all its summertime glory when you're putting up your Christmas tree in December. They have home decor, coffee table books and a nice selection of candles. They also carry beautifully designed jewelry and a stylish selection of scarves. There was an exterior exhibit along the front of the building, featuring paintings by Debra Howard, and a lovely fairy garden populates the back, which really fits in with the gorgeous natural space. A small red box is also located out front - similar to a Little Free Library, but it's a cute Little Free Art Gallery! Materials were available on the back deck to make your own tiny piece of art to add to the gallery, and then you were welcome to take a piece you liked. We really enjoyed the extra touches of tiny people checking out the display. Inside is a small gallery space, which was showing a Members Create exhibit. It was a nice opportunity to see a variety of art - painting, photos, prints, mixed media, found art, and more. Staff was friendly and welcoming!

I can't believe I exhibited such self-restraint and only bought one thing. (Although, a couple days after visiting I went onto their website a bought a few more items :P!) I love that this store is a mother/daughter duo owned store! The daughter (EchoFoxx) does all these incredibly stunning watercolor artworks, prints, stickers, etc. of Michigan & nature that feel plucked right out of the inside of my brain, and the mother does adorable fish & other creature sculptures that are so whimsical. Knitology has a variety of yarns but their claim to fame is their Reaction yarns. Reaction yarn is dyed on site! The guys are great. They also have a large open area so that people can sit and knit.

While they carry many types of antique media, of special note is their truly exceptional selection of 1st Octavo Audubon's. I inquired about Audubon's crows today and within minutes, Piper had located 4 that might do the trick!
