She paid no mind to me or the other (all white) people in the shop except to greet them, so we left before buying anything because we felt so uncomfortable. Coming here was always a big part of my childhood so i'm so shocked and saddened by the racist behavior. no other shops in Glen Arbor acted this way. There's lots of great galleries here, we won't be hitting this one again.

Prices run the gamut, but you can find some really great pieces on sale occasionally. Anyone from a kid to an adult with cash to burn can find something lovely to bring home from here. I've purchased so many pieces from here over the years, from small, whimsical animal prints, to a highly decorated full sized map of the area. Each and every piece still makes me happy, little bits of Glen Lake spread across the walls of my home.

I can't believe I exhibited such self-restraint and only bought one thing. (Although, a couple days after visiting I went onto their website a bought a few more items :P!) I love that this store is a mother/daughter duo owned store! The daughter (EchoFoxx) does all these incredibly stunning watercolor artworks, prints, stickers, etc. of Michigan & nature that feel plucked right out of the inside of my brain, and the mother does adorable fish & other creature sculptures that are so whimsical. Fine, hand-crafted jewelry; sculptures in metal, wood, and clay; fiber arts; and watercolors stand out most for me. Kim Bazemore, the owner of Cog's Creek, is an open and welcoming personality. She has a clear respect and love of the arts evident in its presentation and depth. (You know what I'm talking about, fellow moms ;). The shop is beautifully curated. You know that whoever does the buying for this place puts a tremendous amount of heart into the items they select. There are seasonal items like graduation gifts, Mother's/Father's Day presents, and even Christmas ornaments that are perfect souvenirs to remind you of beautiful Glen Arbor in all its summertime glory when you're putting up your Christmas tree in December. They have home decor, coffee table books and a nice selection of candles. They also carry beautifully designed jewelry and a stylish selection of scarves. I ended up purchasing a cute wooden penguin that she got from someone who purchased them at a show in Chicago. They do require masks and only allow ten people in at once. You must stop in at the front desk and get hand sanitizer before touching items to keep everyone safe. I think this is a smart idea. You habe to be careful woth children too because there are a lot of glass and fragile items.
