Now after saying that and looking at my review and seeing 5 stars, you may be wondering... After several bad experiences with the insurance industry, we changed companies. That was a short term solution, but didn't appear to be the issue. So we looked for a new agent. Realizing a lot of the issues we were having stemmed from poor communication and lack of follow-up at our long ago previous agent's office, not the actual insurance company. We moved our policies to a local agent and our new service representative was Suzanne French. To say she is awesome is an understatement. She is kind, courteous, listens and speaks in terms that are easily understandable. She is pretty funny too! She has completely changed our feeling on the insurance industry. Suzanne left the agency we met her at and we were so pleased with her service, we moved our business to follow her, which is where Emery & Web comes in... Since moving our policies to Emery & Webb, we have filed a few claims. Suzanne, as always is awesome, but we also have had the opportunity to deal with the claims department at E&W. Their service is equal to that which we've become accustomed to with Suzanne. I would like to say I feel like I truly am in good hands with my good neighbors at Emery & Webb. And no, neither of this companies are ours! Emery & Webb is constantly looking out for your best interests. I rarely give 5-star review but I feel Coastal Insurance and their team deserve this recognition…read more Recently I purchased a house and my mortgage broker pushed me to use their insurance company for obvious reason. While the pricing is great, I wanted to compare both the rate and the coverage. I emailed 5 different insurance companies and 4 of them immediately said "we'll get you the same policy for the same money" but only ONE came back to me and said you are not being covered properly and there's conflicting info in the underwriting language. That firm was none other than Coastal Insurance (see attached email). While their policy came back to be $200 more, but their policy also offers substantially more coverage. I would've rather pay the extra money than to leave myself exposed to a potential loss and claim denial b/c I didn't read the fine print. In a society where speed and cheap trumps service and common sense, it's refreshing to see a company that is thorough and didn't "sell me on price and price alone." Just an FYI, they also have an affiliate that provide tax grievance service and have saved me thousands of dollars with my commercial and residential properties.

After a very expensive error on their part in 2011, I chose to give them another chance and was deeply disappointment when in 2016, i discovered not only did they miss one of my corporate vehicles dropping off our policy at renewal but also after issuing me two insurance cards to re-register my vehicles at NYSDMV, they never added the vehicles. This coupled with them not advising me of a non-renewal notice because we hadn't produced a copy of a license from a former employee. When I broached the topic, they had the audacity to tell me, I never called to tell them I had been successful in my DMV trip. Nothing like trying to turn your error into my problem. Progressive, our carrier, went above and beyond to fix this without any help from Brinkerhoff. In fact, when they did try and fix their error, they fixed it with the wrong dates, yielding me TWO suspension notices and fines. Steer clear. There are a lot of other options around. That I even continued to use this agency (36 miles away) after their first screw-up, is unforgiveable.
