this place is a little gem for an active family day out! so its sensible all weather clothing, picnics etc. the admission is free, but there is a charge for using the car park. (as always take your rubbish home with you!)
its a place with lots of old rocks!
most of the rocks have rather strange shapes, erosion during and after the Devensian glaciation. they have names like idol rock, druids writing desk, dancing bear etc
some you can easily climb on and off and others are a definate no no! for climbing! as they are hugh! the pathways are easy enough to follow, well sign posted, with little bits of info about the rock and the place etc. giving some of the formations, names can be fun, rather like cloud watching? the whole area is very scenic and has some really nice views of the surrounding areas. when your in a more open area that is.
when climbing these rocks remember its the getting back down thats the hard part! but it all makes for a fun day out, when mum is stuck up a rock and dad's to busy laughing to help!
though the place is spelt brim ham rocks, some people call it bring ham rocks or brig ham rocks! so if your asking for directions, give them the choice of pronounciations!
it never gets really busy, but never that quiet, leaving you the only people there. read more
